I know that I am depressed and I am overweight but when I feel depressed I eat and sleep alot and I isolate myself and they say that it's good to talk to people about it but do you feel like it helps you or do you dwell on it? I don't think that medicine really helps either.

Now what your dealing with is a common thing. I don't want to say problem because there's no problem. Depression is a chemical reaction. Not your fault.
Now they do say it's good to talk to people. Sometimes it helps but you have to find the person who'll really listen. And if your into steps like I am then keep doing the online thing. Make friends with unbiased people so you know they don't care what's on the outside. Then socialize more in public.
Everyone has to find what works for them. Hope you find what works for you.
Best of lick.

I have gone through about almost all kinds of depression, losing a child, losing a loved one, losing friends, no money, no job, you name it I have pretty much have had to deal with in one way or another. Medicine has never helped me and neither did going to see a shrink. Trying to talk to friends is hard because they have their own problems they are dealing with.
But what I have found that truly helps is just sitting down having a good cry when no one is around and writing down everything that has been going on and bothering me.

I agree with you.Having a good cry helps you release the things that are bothering you.Preferably you may want to have a shoulder to cry on...........someone there to comfort you.Sometimes that helps. You may need to go to the doctor to have your hormones checked. If your thyroid is out of whack it can wreak your emotional well being.Maybe you are not having enough seratonin......or one of your feel good hormones are low.Food may feel like it is helping you but it is only temporary.Try doing something you like to do............and relaxing...........you will be just fine.
