What are the pros and cons of joining clubs and organizations?
I joined an academic organization. It's good to make friends with people with the same course as you. The could help a lot with sample exams and projects...and personal advices. :)

Hi berry, I joined 3 clubs when I was in high school just because I like to be busy with friends beside I could not decide which one I should choose best. So I joined all that interest me.. I joined computer club, Journalist club and Drama club.. Well as you say, they help me a lot with personal advice, except at computer club where all that we are talking to is only about computer and software..which until today I still dont understand why I joined that club..LOL..

I joined a college-based organization where all members are of the same course. It really helped a lot in my personal growth, in the areas of socialization and leadership, specially when i became the president of the organization during my last year in college.
It does have lots of advantages, not only for the members but to other students as well, because most of our activities inlvolves community service like tree planting and cleaning in the hospitals; education as we hold a lot of tutorial sessions for students of different courses.
I made a lot of friends since then. Now, most of them are good business contacts.

Ok joining an organization can mean a lot… like, before entering you would typically experience initiation, wherein the seniors asked you to do certain stuff, they would interview you, and during the interview they would let you do stuff like recite the organization’s preamble and its by laws, then you will have this so-called finals night, wherein you will be physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially challenged.
Anyways, the advantages often take place once you leave college because then you would realize that while you took part in the organization regardless of your position. The kind of socialization and how you have dealt with people are few of the things that will equip you once you go out to the “real” world. Everything in the organization somehow prepares you to what can work life could offer you. The thing is you should have an ok disposition while in the organization because there really are mean people, and they do exist in the real world… well, all I am saying is never ever lose you sense of individuality in the org.:) I have three organizations in college.

I only joined English Club but I enjoyed it. It was a great way to make friends and then when you had classes with them you could compare notes and study together. Sometimes there was a group of us, sometimes just two. We would do fun activities together like go see plays and see Shakespeare in the Park. At the end of the year we had banquets with awards and it was our time to say goodbye to our friends who were graduating. I couldn't find anything bad about joining them as it was a joy the entire time.
