Hello Sigma,
I've actually been following Dr. Paul's newsletter for quite a few years. Personally, I think he's better suited for Congress. For the better part of the last decade he has been a one issue guy: taxation. I said the same of Tom Tancredo, because he's a one issue guy: immigration. The myriad of bills that Dr. Paul has presented on taxation & libertarian issues has openned many sets of eyes to a number of gross injustices -- not the least of which being the 16th Amendment ratification mess. Of course, Dr. Paul's cause of unjust taxation led to the whole off-shore tax shelter mess which has led to a whole hornets nest of other problems.
I will say that I'm glad he's not officially running under the Libertarian Party flag. Although the G.O.P. will never give him the primary win, at least he won't pull a "Ross Perot"; dividing the party, leading the way for a Socialist win.
Of course, there's no guarantee that he won't take his accumulated campaign cash, and change party affiliation just in time for the general election. Dr. Paul is a pretty smart cookie. So, this G.O.P. run may have been his first step all along. Though, as I said, I hope that is not the case.
I went the third party route, twice. Both times it landed us Bill Clinton. Which has led to Hillary -- shudder to think! Anyway, I think the voices of reason are the folks who keep clammoring that we've had more than enough Bush/Clinton leadership in this country. Yet, I don't think Dr. Paul is the best choice, given this multi-flanked attack on the American economy, which whether good or bad is diversified heavily overseas.

if I were to vote I would vote for Hilery Clinton or Obama I believe that the world could use a good president male or female to get us out of the situation that the U.S. is in

Well, all that I can say about this one is, "Who the heck is Ron Paul?" I don't think I've heard his name in all of this political hoopla. I can't wait 'til the primaries are over so that there will only be plitical commercials from the democrates vs. the republicans, unless there's some other parties that I've forgotten about that are running. I'm still undecided, as there are so many options. I'm registered as an independent, because I refuse to be a democrat or a republican who only votes for someone in their own party. I've seen good and bad democrats and republicans, so I prefer to vote for who I want, regardless of which party they're affiliated with. But, that's just me!
