How smart is your cat?

Does it ever seem like your cat is following a conversation? Do you ever see him or her figureing something out? Like I've watched a friends cat look at a toy up on a shelf then look from the coffe table to a chair beside the book case to the book case then follow that route to the toy, then when that didn't work I watched him plot out the route a different way? What about your cat?

Sounds like it. Most people will assume since you can't train most cats to do tricks they must be dense, to me this proves their smarts!

All of our cats are pretty smart. My eldest cat, she knows that to get or do certain things, you have to do something before it. Our kittens, are about a year old and they are too smart for their own good. They watch us do things and put two and two together and realize that if you want to open a door, you have to turn the door knob (even if they can't actually get the door open, they try) and that to get open the cabinet that they liked to open to make a mess with, they have to pull the tape off the door, or unwind the hook we have there. And they've managed to do that before. If only they had thumbs they could open the door.

Sounds smart to me!
Aww, I wish you knew how - you should start a discussion on it - ask other mylotters. I like the kitty in your avatar!
