Do you like examinations?

We had a debate in our english class last week. The topic was does examinations do more harm than good?Many classmates of mine thought that examinations do more harm than good,because students have to spend so much time revising for examinations that they haven't enough time for new work.Besides,examination is not the best way to make students study well.Many people work steadily all the time and they remember what they learn. That's better than doing no work for weeks and working all night before the examination.If there were no examinations,more people would work like that.
How do you think of this problem?

Yes I like examination because its the only way that proves that which students is Brilliant and weak in the subject. So the teacher ca concentrate on weak student and solve their problem regrading subject.

Hi wuBojin! You are really making a good point here. Like in my country, examination makes more of the unserious students to pass their examination than those who are serious studying their books. Those who don't spend time studying will go as far as performing exam malpractice and will see themselves above those that study well. In my own opinion, examination is good too (eventhough it is not the best way to make student get close to their books, but I haven't seen any way better than examinations) because as a student, one knows he or she will face question on the day of examination, therefore he or she will have to go and study in order to pass the examination or else fail. Examination is a good way to let students prove themselves though not the best, but I would like to know the best way to make students study. Thanks for this discussion. Have a wonderful season. I don't believe tests are particularly beneficial to the student except in that they show a students progress to the teacher. A small percentage of people do not do well under pressure and don't test well but for the majority exams are the best way to gauge progress. Personally I always enjoyed taking tests but then again, I'm a geek. If you can think of a more effective way for an instructor to gauge the progress of students, I'd like to hear it.

personally i feel that exams keep fullstop to our personal
life.we keep our whole heart and mind to go through the exams.but the excitement that we get after writing our exams waiting for our results is really excellent.so keep waiting for exams ,study well and get that excitement
