How long do you keep Text Messages in your Mobile Phone?

Mobile phones used to be able to keep only up to 10 Text Messages. With the increase in memory space, we can keep almost unlimited messages on our mobile phones.
If someone very special to me sends me a special Text Message on my mobile phone, I will keep it forever. I will only delete it if that person is no longer special.
I will also keep funny or meaningful Text Message on my mobile phone for as long as I wish.
All other Text Messages that do not fall under the above categories will be deleted almost immediately.
I do not enjoy seeing my mobile phone filled up with so many Text Messages.
I have friends who keep all Text Messages (important or unimportant) sent to them. They claim they are lazy to delete. LOL
How about you? Why do you keep certain Text Messages in your mobile phone? How long do you keep them?

I have chosen to keep all my Xmas messages regardless of where it came from-I want to know how many real caring friends I have this year-I will delete them on 15th of January. Ordinarily, I usually read and delete unless it is a data message I would like to refer to later!

Hi,
You are right. All messages are special to me. Actually, I seldom delete stuff in my cell phone, everything that goes into my cell phone will not be deleted unless my cell phone are low on memory.
All the stuff in my cell phone are special to me. I will look back at those stuff sometimes.

Hie Poohgal, well! It depends on how much the message means to me or relevancy. If it's precious and from a love one, I would keep it forever till the cell phone RIP No matter how short the message is, it will always be sweet and treasured.
I do keep inspirational sayings or jokes from friends, or even pictures. Otherwise irrelevant ones, I would delete them as soon as I have read them. Nowadays I do get those kinky messages to call certain numbers when lonely and need a companion it seemed.
Cheers and happy posting!

Hello my friend! If I haven't changed my phone or sim some of my messages would be 8 years old. Hehe. I want to keep the significant ones and then later after a long time send it back to the sender. I want to show them that I've kept it for quite some time to remind that person how significant his/her message was. Hehe. Right now I have some 4 year-old messages on my phone. Other text messages though, I delete them after 2-3 days. I'm quite lazy too. Hehe.

Ha ha ha... you reminded me so fondly of all the messages I keep.
In fact, I am still holding on to the very first SMS that I received from my wife, all those years ago when we first met in Uni.
Yeah, now with all the new handsets and all that new expanded memory, I can keep heck of a lot of my messages.
Sometimes, taking the effort to clean up my inbox is more of a chore now.
heh heh... takes almost an hour to clean out the unnecessary junk in my inbox. Always a headache, especially when upgrading to a new phone. Cos the messages are no longer stored in the SIM, but in the phone.

ha ha ha... I would think so too. Cos she is also keeping the first SMS I sent her all those years ago.
The first time I used my SMS, I felt so awkward. So troublesome, cos you have to keep pressing the buttons to get the letter you want.
Now with definitive dictionary text messaging, it is so much easier.

Dear friend,
Yes, I do keep some of the messages which I would like to read again and again, mostly they are proverbs or humours and may be someone special to me have send. I delete those are not necessary like bill payment that I had done already, certain marketing message which I am not interested to purchase etc. Otherwise I would keep the most needed according to the preference I give.

My phone is weird. The recieved message box seems to hold about 50 before it tells you to delete something. The sent messages only go up to 30. The thing I do like is the lock feature. You can sometimes lock a special message, so when you do a mass delete, it saves whatever has been locked in place.

I have my phone set to auto erase so it holds 50 at a time and erases the oldest one every time I get a new one. So it depends.

I'm pretty lazy about deleting messages. I generally delete things that are quickies, such as when someone is answering me about something, or the daily 'good mornings' types of texts I get from some friends. I keep more texts that were funny or have a memory attached to them, and I like to keep some from my husband. I think I can store 100 on mine and i'm not sure if buying memory would up my storage space.

I love keeping messages especially inspirational and joke messages. I npirational messages always lift me up while jokes always make me laugh. I will only erase these messages when I have forwarded them to my friends or when there's not enough space.

My mobile phone could store up to 50 messages in my inbox. I only keep qoutes that really touches me, so i could forward it also to my friends.
Sometimes, a simple goodnight, sleep tight message could last for many months in my inbox, cause i read it still everynight! Especially if it comes from a special person.

as long as i have enough memory in my phone, i seldom delete messages even the unimportant ones. my husband still needs to remind me that my inbox is already full...or he'll be the one to erase those not so important messages.
