There are alot of protected animals today and animals which are not normally considered as pets (eg. reptiles)but if you have a choice, what would you like as a pet? Or do you have an unusual pet animal? Please share with us something other than the usual cat, dog or fish. Cheers! Merry Christmas.

well, both are rodents. and they multiply faster than any other animal. they are high in demand. hamsters have short lifespan but they are very good pets and they are always in demand. angora rabbits are wanted for their fur. and very rare. so the prices on both are much higher than normal hamsters and rabbits.

I know it will never happen, but I would love to have a pet elephant. I think they're so sweet and adorable and I just want to protect them.
I don't know how unusual this is, but I have a pet iguana. He's awesome.

For some reason, I have an image of a pink elephant when I see your message. :-) Thanks for sharing.

My dream pets, if they could live happily domestically that is, include a pig, a duck and a penguin. I don't see it happening, but I love all three - so cute!

Interesting choices! Pig and duck maybe but penguin will require the right temperate, I guess. :-)

I'm a big dog person. I've grown up with noisy and annoying birds in the house all my life and my boyfriend always had oodles of cats at his house when I would visit. Although I've never owned or completely taken care of a dog full time, I'd love to experience it because they don't (usually) shed (at least not like cats), and they go outside to do their business, not in a litter box in the house like a cat or in the bottom of their cage like a bird. Yuck! Dogs come in so many shapes, sizes, personalities. The possibilities are endless. A dog is so easily chosen by its personality because I believe every dog has character. If it doesn't like something, you'll know it. If it's happy, it's wagging its tail all over the place. Dogs are always happy to see people and to be with them no matter what. Dogs will always be there for their owners because they're so affectionate. They're always looking into your eyes looking for that pat on the head or treat. They're so much fun to be around. Yes, they have their ups and downs with making messes and eating shoes. But overall, I think a dog in the house always adds a new twist to the family.
