1G memory enough for Vista?

I am thinking about update my OS from XP to Vista. Microsoft says 1G memory is enough to run Vista. But one of my friends says his computer has 1G memory and feel it's painful to run Vista. He has been planning 2G memory. I'm kinda short of budget, so I dont wanna waste money on an extra memory bank. Is there anyone use Vista here? Help me out.

firstly i would like to say that anyone using vista instead of XP needs their head testing because there is NO good reason to "upgrade" Anywat, i would reccomend you have at least 2gig to run vista because its such a drain of your system resources. I personally use XP and have 4gig of ram.

Joey has vista on his laptop. He has the premium version and it uses 60GB to run the software. It all depends on the version of vista you want and what features it has on it. I think if you only have a low or medium memory computer, you will be better either getting more memory or a new computer before changing it to vista. ~Joeys wife.

To optimize your PC performances especially its own processing you have replace the IDE cable to a twitter for your Hard disk so it can run fast thrice ever. Just contact your technician from your nearest local shop or if you had expertise matter do the same pimp in your PC system.

Take more planning and requirements in detail before you install the Vista and replace the one old XP. In our country XP still in use to all kind of business and industries hope soon I get Vista someday.

Windows Vista on a 1Gig memory computer is actually fine. You can run it even on a 512Mb Memory. The only thing to consider there is the processor and also the type of flavor of vista. You see, Vista comes in different flavors and all of them have different memory requirements.

1gig of memory is enough to run vista, and no you wont have alot of problems. I have been using for a while now, with only 1 gig of memory and i can't compain. And yes i do more then just using office and stuff...
