I have a theory that when you have this overwhelming feeling about someone that has passed and you are missing them so much I believe it is because they are around you, I believe you are really picking up their energy force of their spirit...he is probably watching over you as a spiritual guide...

How about trying to remember positive, fun memories of your step dad and marking these
"good" events with some kind of activity. Smile while you think of him in the fun loving ways that you miss him...
Just remember....it takes 17 facial muscles to frown and only 4 to smile!

I can understand this totally. It being the Holidays seems to make things worse when those we loved aren't with us any longer. My grandfathers birthday was December 22 and I miss him so much and it being the Holidays it just makes me miss him that much more and it still hits my mom pretty hard to. And my granmothers birthday is beginning of January and so is my mother in laws both who has passed away. I think you should let the memories flow because they sometimes have a way of cleansing the soul, especially the good memories. People may think I am crazy, but so be it but I also bake a cake for their birthdays and share it with everyone. I call it the rememberance cake. Maybe you could do something like that for him. Or have a rememberance party where everone has to get together and brings a favorite picture of him to put up on a board and then they have to tell the story about that particular picture and tell about the good times and what he done. And serve cake. It will help some. But if your alone it can be harder to deal with. sometimes even depression will set in. You will need to get out and do something special for yourself to take your mind off of it maybe keep busy. When times like these you do need to surround yourself with others to help you. I hope all goes and has went well, Happy Holidays to you and your family. Hugs!
