Well it is Friday and for me that means WWE wrestleing is on but tonights show is live from over in Iraq in support of our troops there. I remember back when I was a kid and we use to watch the USO shows with Bob Hope and I think it is sad that since he has passed away that not one famous person has tooken over doing a USO show for the troops during Christmas.
This is the 5th year that WWE has done this show for our guys and it is such a great gift to our men and women there.
This is the night that I wait for all year to get here and it is such a great joy to be able to watch our troops on TV and know that for just one day they can relax and enjoy something and have a bit of fun. I know alot of us either know someone there or have family members there and that maybe just by chance you were able to get a glimce of them and know that they are doing ok.
Merry Christmas and a Great BIG Thank you to our troops.

I dont mean to sound offensive, but American troops are not the only ones in Iraq. The other ones with a Large amount of troops is British Troops, and yeah, there mabye not as many fans, but It would be nice to see them there with Our British troops. Or other ones for that matter. EEven if they dont go, considering them or mentioning them would be nice.

I second that!!
I too think it's great that they - as well as other celebrities - go over there to make the troops have a better day.

Me and my husband watched it as well and I am glad that they could take time out of their busy shedules and do something like this for those troops. It is a ray of sunshine on a bleak day for them. It also may have given some glimpses of soldiers to their families who haven't seen them in awhile and give them some hope that they will make it home. For others it may be the last glimpse of a father, brother, uncle or cousin that they see alive and happy. I am so glad that WWE did this again for those fighting and risking their lives for our country. May they all be brought home safely and unharmed. Some of the singers have went over their but it has been awhile since they have. Tobt Keith I think went or that may have just been to visit soldiers that were hurt and in the hospital over their. May the troops and everyone else have a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year 2008! Maybe next year they may be some hope of getting a few of the actors/actresses or even comedians over their to entertain the troops, then again I hope that this is done and over with this coming year and they won't have a reason or need to go. God bless. Happy Holidays!

Actually they are some who have. I seen it in the news recently when they did a interview with Robin Williams and some others he had to have someone else do his talking because he had lost his voice after talking to the troops for 12 straight hours trying to give them a few happy hours. Here is a link that I read and found interesting, he was joined by several famous people this is his fourth tour. here is that link..

I've spent Christmas in the army in the bush and it was hard to keep on the ball and remember that the enemy had no religion or a religion that didn't recognise Christmas and their intention was to try to kill you just the same.
So I pray for all our lads to enjoy themselves but also for the guards to stay alert as this is just the time to exploit our weakness.

I agree with you Smacksman, and may I say Thank you for your time that you put in to take care of us also. We have a few friends that are over there now, and my kids dad was in the army, 82nd Airborne and my boyfriend that I am with now has also served his time in the army. Again Thank you for all you have done for us. Big Hugs!
