What breed of dog do you recommend as a pet? What special traits or characteristics do they have that make them stand out to you above other breeds? My husband and I are going to be getting a dog in the future, but we haven't quite decided on a breed yet. There are a few that we have narrowed it down to, but it's still open to discussion. I would love to hear your thoughts and stories about why you would choose a specific breed. I'll be giving out plus ratings and best response!

I would recommend the breed of my pet dog which is call Shetland Sheepdog. An intelligent, good companionship and tender towards children. A smaller version breed compare to a collie, they are always affectionate and looking out for you..

wiemareiner - wiemareiner
Wiemareiners are great indoor pets they are smart and loyal and will really listen to their owners training is easy and they love the attention. They dont shed long fur and they are very clean. They are the dogs they use in the car commercials dressed as people. My second choice would be a visla they are similar but smaller.

I love Wiemareiners! They are such beautiful dogs. Those eyes are just gorgeous. Wiemareiners are definitely one of our top choices as well. I've read that they are very energetic, so I'm wondering if you have much trouble with keeping them inside? We will definitely be looking for an inside dog, but they will have a big yard to play in and get plenty of excercise.

Thanks for your response. I definitely would like to find a protective dog. I am planning to be a stay at home mom, so a good watch dog is one of the things my husband finds very important!

I have a siberian husky and I love her so much. My fiance and I love huskies so she's the best choice for us. They are amazing pets.

I love huskies! Honestly, it would be my number one choice but I have read some things about them that have made me cautious about considering them for a pet. I've heard they have a tendency to run away a lot and that you have to be careful with them around small animals. Since I have two cats and a rabbit, I've always worried about that. Do you have any other pets in your home? Have you had any problems with your husky trying to run away?

A shelter dog. Shelter dogs need second chances at life, too often they were dumped in shelters because they weren't puppies anymore.
