Baby shaking head

Is your baby shaking head like saying "no" vigorously? Any idea why newborns and young infants do that? Read somewhere that it could be ear infection, any moms out there have any idea? Does it go away?

I am a father of an 8-month-old and my doctor did tell me that any vigorous movements such as what you have described above could be a sign of ear infections or even some problems to the brain. it is best that the child be brought in for checkups immediately.
