Meaning of dreams: Finding a needle.

Last night I dreamt that I saw a needle lying on the ground. It was a large shiny needle with a large eye, such as might be used for darning or rug-making. I believe that I picked it up (or thought that I must do so) because I remembered the rhyme: See a pin and pick it up, All the day you'll have good luck. See a pin and let it lay, You'll have bad luck all the day. I am not superstitious but I do make a habit of picking up pins (and needles) because they might be dangerous. In the dream I have no recollection of picking up the needle, though I remember thinking I should. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the dream might mean?

dream with meaning - dream the best
Hi owlwings, To use a needle in your dream, indicates that you need to mend some relationship or situation that has gotten out of hand or driven to the extreme. A needle is also symbolic of some emotional or physical pain. To dream that someone is using a needle, suggests that you need to incorporate and join together various aspects of your consciousness. To look for a needle in your dream, symbolizes useless worries over small, trivial matters. To dream that you are threading a needle, represents unfinished issues that you need to tend to and perhaps even repair.

Thanks, cen7777. There is a big emotional issue on hand at the moment. The important thing, though, is (1) that the needle was particularly shiny, beautiful, well made and admirable and (2) that I have no recollection of USING it in any way - just of thinking that I should pick it up. I think you are right that it represents something which is both desirable and painful which I must address urgently.

It could be that something is troubling you and by picking up the needle you are confronting the problem. On the other hand, if you did not pick up the needle this could denote that you have perhaps opted to avoid the problem. Dreams portray what is in our subconscious and the pictures we see in a dream are symbolic of what's going on in our heads.

Thank you. While many have identified the needle as a problem (and I know what that problem is), you have pointed out that I need to 'pick up' or address that problem. In the dream, I was aware that I needed or was about to pick up the needle but didn't actually do so (as far as I remember). That was, perhaps, the crux of the message. As well as the little rhyme I quoted, I just now thought of the saying that it is 'easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle ...' and also remembered the simile of 'looking for a needle in a haystack' (though I found the needle, so that one is, perhaps, not relevant).
