Santa in other countries

In many countries and cultures we have the tradition (or myth) of Santa Claus. Does your country have a similar myth, or person of tradition, who bestows gifts onto children and adults? Would you tell us about your countries custom and when it is?

Hi Joyful! I have been following this post for a while hoping to read about some awesome customs of other countries. Alas, there has been no contributions. I love hearing about the customs of countries other than mine. Maybe by my responding it will move the discussion up and someone will tell us some cool customs!
