high risk travel?

Is there a high tendency for accidents when travelling through christmas and new year than any other days of the year?

I think new years and fourth of july because alot of people have been out drinking and cant be bothered to catch a taxi. Also i think that it is never safe to travel on the road they are not very good drivers out there and we all have to be carefull at all times of the year.
