Did you all find the movie 300 to be historically accurate? I mean- the "eye-candy" of the graphics that were put into the movie was astonishing. As well as what the characters could do, and their ripped bodies. But more importantly, the fact that they were representing Sparta- the greatest warriors the world has ever come to known. What is your opinion on the topic?

I think this movie was made more for metaphors than for historical accuracy. A lot of facts were not true. As mentioned before me, there were plenty of other grecian warriors fighting witht the spartans. The spartans would have worn body armor. And Xerxes army was highly over-exaggerated. I have included a few links that deal with some different views on the historical accuracy of 300.

The movie was only slightly accurate on terms of history. For example, there were well over 2000 Greek soldiers fighting with the Spartans in the beginning, and in the end, only the remnants of the original Spartan 300 had remained. Also, the location in the movie does not exist, and the real battle itself was not fought next to the sea as it had been depicted in the movie (the movie itself was shot in front of a blue screen, and they generated the setting through computer)
The original idea, therefore, is accurate, only there are a couple of circumstantial things that differ from reality and the movie.

I don't think they had Scottish accents lol but apart from that it is probably fairly accurate as the spartans were the greatest warriors at the time.

300 is an absolutely terrific movie. the attitude, the valour the spartans display send a chill down my spine. so much to keep their honour. they challenged and even demured a person who projected himself as god. i think they were bogged down by the wrong priests who just had no respect for these warriors. my personal favorite line in the movie when the king says : SPARTANS NEVER RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!. the greatest sequence when the king as a young lad fights the beast and also , when he kicks the intruder into the well..
