Hello! Playing guitar is fun and awesome. You can really enjoy it, but you must love it to keep on. I play guitar for around a year, and I still don't play it very well. I mean, I can play most musics, but no solos nor anything like that, only beats. Solos are for a more advanced player. Don't worry about the time it takes, just try to take some classes, it's the easiest way. Respectfully.

I started about a year ago, with a classical guitar teacher. He is also a composer and is very good. I used to study music before and can sight read, that helps a lot too. My advice is to find someone who will teach you finger style playing, not just chords and stuff. It is much more satisfying in the long run to be able to play properly, instead of just doing chords. It will take longer though. Good luck!

I started off playing guitar by ear, then I took two years of classical lessons. I think the key is being able to read music. Also, there are great similarities to piano. There are tons and tons of sites out there that give you chords to learn, and even some that will help you tune your guitar. If you want to just play lesiurely, I would suggest choosing some songs you think you would like to learn to play, then go to one of the chord sites and you can usually find that song along with either the tabs or chords. That totally depends on what is easiest for you. If you want some usefull guitar tab sites, or chord finders, send me a message, I'll send ya the links. I've got a bunch of them from Rock to Country.
