Do you know that in Italy you can't name your child "Friday"?
"Italian judges forbade a couple from naming their son Friday, saying it would bring the child shame and ridicule to be named after the character in Robinson Crusoe."
Is there such a prove that a child would go through a hrad time if he or she carries a name such as Friday?
"They thought that it recalled the figure of a savage, thus creating a sense of inferiority and failing to guarantee the boy the necessary decorum," the couple's lawyer, Paola Rossi, said Wednesday.
People are so weird at times...

I don't agree with the judge's reason, but I think people should stay away from certain words for their children's names. Friday is okay, but remember that family that wanted to name their kid "@" ?

Wow. :( I think that different names should be encouraged...are we forever going to be trapped in a world of Johns, Ambers, Mikes, Jennifer,Jeremy, and Katies?
I think Friday is a cute name, and even if I didn't like it..so what? Worrying about a child being ridiculed isn't a good reason to not give a child an interesting name, in my opinion. Throughout childhood/teen years, your children are going to run into immature people who find cruel humor in the littlest things...I've know men in highschool to have strange feminine names, but they never got made fun of because they were jocks and popular...I've known people with perfectly normal names who were made fun of relentlessly.

I would think the court ouldn't have anything to say about it, although parents (of course) should consider what their naming choice will do to their kids social life and roles.
