Where do you believe beloved pets go when they die?

I beleive that humans go to their version of heaven or hell (not necessarily the biblical version) and I like to believe that they might meet old friends or family members who have passed on before them. What about animals though? Surely they wont' be forgotten? Animals are purely innocent and not inclined to be evil like people. They may be cruel at times, but it's always an instinct and not a logical thought process that creates cruelty in them.
My cat is dying and I am broken hearted. It would comfort me to hear others versions of where my cat might go when she dies. This might sound sappy and I'm sure will make some people want to barf, but my cat has been my "angel" for 22 years now and has been there everyday of my life through my 20's and most of my 30's now. If she could make it 6 more months, she would have made it for the whole decade of my 30's too! She's been loving, affectionate, cuddly, funny and warm to me and comforts me when I'm sick or sad. She's been with me through 3 breakups, the loss of 4 babies and the loss of my grandmother and my father. She's also been with me through the loss of 2 other much loved pets.
Wow, I'm just so sad now. Sorry to bring everyone down so close to Christmas.

There was a quote once that I read that I loved:
"If there are no animals in Heaven, I want to go where they are."
I fully believe that our departed pets wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge. They are made whole again. The sick are made well. The ill are made healthy. The old are young again. Gone are the illnesses and conditions that caused them to leave us in the first place. They are healthy and have everything they want. They live out their lives waiting on us and then when our time comes to leave this earth, we as humans go to the Rainbow Bridge and collect our departed soul mates and together, we enter Heaven.
I know I'll have quite a few waiting on me from my fish to my cats to my weenie dog to my horses lost over the years.

They have no souls so they really go no where-they simply rot and have no place in the life after here.

They lose consciousness, followed by their physical perception, their brains shut down, as do the rest of their organs and all is quiet, dark and then...nothing. They go to sleep and never wake. There is no doggy heaven (there's not a whole lot of proof that there's one for us either). We don't want to think about things ending, especially ourselves or the people we love and we would also like to think that our pets "cross over" as well. The fact of the matter is that, eventually, all things end. That includes your life, that includes Rover's.

Obviously, there is no "hell" for animals because they have no guilt ridden soul like humans. I assume (there is always that a__ in that word) that animals will end up in some form of paradise for the "hell" that we humans put them through here on earth.

I really never thought about it but sometimes I watch that Crossing Over show with John Edwards. My girlfriend turned me onto him and now I'm hooked. Sometimes he will talk about a pet that has "crossed over" and is there and that makes me hope that they go to a good place.
