I've been on Ebay for around 8 years and in past years it seems from boxing day on there would be a lot of new people joining. It seemed people got a computer for Christams and the first thing they did was sign on to Ebay.I wander if this still happens?

Or maybe they are looking for items that people are selling that they received as Christmas presents and didn't want. Ebay is a growing company and maybe people join then as it's a busy time. They probably/maybe let their account lapse each year and start a new one at this time. There are maybe lots of reasons for this. Your reason...a new computer....is as good a reason as any for signing up at this time.

i am not sure about this.in some cases this may be true.but yes ebay is undisputed king of auctions.everybody want to try ebay to earn some extra money.some suceeds and some fails.ebay is a nice concept sometimes you gain sometimes loses.but i think ebay fees are killing sellers.ebay should abolish either of the two fees listing fees or final value fees.ebay is earning too much from poor sellers.

This is so true! E-bay is so heavily popularized that everyone that doesn't have a computer hears about it, and the first thing they do when they get a computer is hook on to e-bay, out of curiosity, just to see what's on there!

I never thought of the "new computer" theory before. I always thought people were trying to sell stuff before their credit card bills came in. LOL
Maybe a bit of both??

I suspect this is still true, but I'm not sure where to find any statistics to prove it. (Anyone know?) I hope it's true, though, as I sell on ebay so the more shoppers, the better!
