I am starting a new contest. This time I want people to tell me how was there Christmas. I am not going to set a timer. dont worry about the spelling. I am the worst at spelling. First I will tell you about mine. Yall! please vote and tell me what you would like for a prize. The last prize was a chrystal cross and a certificate. My Christmas always starts on Christmas Eve. This year we wanted something different to eat for dinner. We all choose Chili beans. I live on a good bit of land that belongs to my parents. My brother also lives on the land. We call it the hill. Well ever since I was a baby, my parents always opened gifts on Christmas eve. That was on Christmas, we could just sat back and play with what we got for Christmas. This year was no different. My hubby, two boys, and I walked about 300 ft to my parents house. We always light up the hill. So we enjoyed the lights the short distance we had to walk. This year is sorta special and sorta sad. My oldest boy will be leaving home on Jan 28 to go to boot camp in Texas. Then he will be there about 10 months after boot camp to go to school. Yes I am now an USAF MOM. And very proud of it. So this Christmas will be the last Christmas we have together as a family with him living at home and on the hill. Well after we eat, we all gather in the living room and open gifts. As usual it was great. Then after all the gifts was open we was all setting around and my mom came into the room with some more gifts. She handed them out to my brother, his wift and son, then to my hubby, boys and me. My dad is a really big man and sometime he can be mean. He has always been my streingth. He started crying. He told us before we opened the gift. He wanted us all to know how he felt about us. Well he told everyone of use one at a time. Then after he finished telling us, we would open the gift. All the gifts was items that was handed down to him. Well everyone of us would cry after we opened the gift. He wanted us to have them now and not wait until he was gone. Well when it came my time, I opened the gift, It was my grandmothers wedding band. I had always wanted the band eversince I was little and sat in her lap and played with it at church. I cried so hard and laughed at the same time. I will never forget the Christmas of 2007. Some things will change. Some things will stay the same. I will miss my son but he will be in my heart and thought every single second of the day. I will just look forward to the day he graduates bootcamp. His whole family will be there with tears in our eyes and a huge smile on our face. I just wish I could have 20 more Christmas like the last ones.

I know you must be proud of your son. Christmas' do change through the years, I remember when I was young we would go over to my dad's parents' house, and all my aunts and uncles and cousins were there and we'd open gifts there on Christmas Eve, then we'd open gifts Christmas morning at our house with my other grandparents there. As families so often do, seemed we all moved in different directions, and then me and my sister and our families would go to my mom and dad's for Christmas, it was always tradition to open gifts Christmas morning though, as it still is here. And again Christmas changes and we move, I moved to PA 3 Christmas' ago, 1600 miles from my parents and my youngest daughter, shortly after I moved, my oldest moved to Virginia with her husband (to Ft Lee Army Base). So this year, my daughter and her husband and his son, my youngest daughter, and my sister were all at mom and dad's, we couldn't make it this year. But Christmas was great, I actually opened a present on Sunday, because he insisted (had been insisting all week! lol) and after I opened it I saw why, it was a new digital camera, so I had some reading to do to be ready to take pictures on Christmas Day! lol Christmas Eve, we just relaxed around the house, and went for a walk to the park (and I took more pictures lol) and watched movies and funny out takes from the old Carol Burnett show on youtube. Christmas morning came and at 7:30 he was waking me up with 'Santa came, Santa came' lol we got up, had coffee and unwrapped our gifts, and the dogs got there stockings full of goodies. At noon we picked up his daughter (it was also her birthday) and went to his mom and dad's for the rest of the afternoon, for good food, and visiting and laughing, and more pictures lol I told him that I would say he was missing something by not being at my parent's for Christmas, but we were there, it was very much like being at my mom and dad's with the kids playing with new Christmas toys, all the talking and laughter, and good food. I did call my mom's Christmas morning, and the phone was passed from person to person, lol but it made me feel like I was a part of it, they were unwrapping the gifts, even though I was miles away. I think my s/o got more gratification with me opening my gifts then opening his own, lol. But, then again, he did like his presents too, he took them to work today to put on his desk, it was autographed Flyers hockey memorabilia. Then after we left his parents' we came back home for his daughter to open her gifts that we had for her here. So, it was a very special Christmas for all of us.

Well as your family we also start our family on Christmas eve..We were a large family but we have lost some family members so there is a sadness as well..We started our Christmas eve at my daughters home..We put out snacks, cookies, chips, dip, fruit, and candy, plus we chose this year on christmas eve to have hot tamales..Then we all gathered in her living room and my daughter began to hand out some gifts..we handed the children each a gift first and then we started handing out the rest of the gifts...I was able this year for the first time to be able to buy some nicer gifts for my children and grandchildren..I opened an account where i could buy all that i wanted for a very low monthly payment..I always get them something they want but this year i was able to do much better, my children are very good to me so i wanted to do something special for them.Anyway, we opened all of our gifts and there were many...It seems that my kids had been taking notes without my knowledge and got me things i have wanted for a while,,We ate , we talked and we laughed , and we ate until we were all very tired..We spent the night at my daughters house and early Christmas day my daughter and i got up before the rest of the house and we had coffee together and had some bonding time...My children are sad this year because they lost their father in September of this year and i tried to comfort them also.My daughter and i cooked christmas dinner..We cooked a turkey, dressing ham, and all the trimmings..We ate , then different friends began coming in and we exchanges Christmas greetings with all of them..We cleaned up the kitchen all the while talking and ust having family time..later on we all sit down together and watched our favorite Christmas story on DVd..It was a good day, we all ended the day after dark and we all went to our own homes.. very tired but happy..It sounds like you too had a wonderful family christmas...I liked yours a lot, sounded like you all just had a lot of memories shared also..I think that your family giving gifts that had been handed down is a wonderful christmas, and touching...I did that last year i gave things that i had collected over all the years and gave them to my family and they really enjoyed them..

Oh and i will add this, you ask about a reward gift for this contest...well to save on postage and also to get something that can be kept in a safe place without taking up a lot of room , again i would also suggest something of paper..How about a nice poem to the winner.I don't know about others but i am a very sentimental person, and things that can be kept like small treasures mean a lot to me..I love to draw and i love poems and small little books, and certificates that can be framed..Paper book markers,Bible markers,hankerchiefs,..I don't know if you have a dollar store where you live, but we have a giant mart that sells small treasures like paper and cloth items small and cute for a dollar..I have found many small books, thoselittle shelf sitters,Little note pads, small picture frames, little calendars for your purse, and memo pads...If i think of any more i will e-mail you.thank you this will be fun..

It was pretty nice. It was our first away from my parents, although we spent it with them. We just had a house of our own and slept around there the night before. The build up was annoying, as one side would play loud music and the other banged a fair bit, then the other side just got louder with there tv. Good though, you always have something going off in the background. ~Joey

hey, good to see you again! you'd not been on in a while when I was last here, and I've been away for a few months because of a really bad year that turned me into a bit of a hermit. I had a lovely Christmas too.

sounds like you had a memorable Christmas! my favorite part of the Christmas celebration this year was in the evening - we took a long slow (30mph in 65 mph zone) drive through town and off on the side streets looking at all the houses lit up and their yard decorations - while Christmas music was on the stereo and we all sang along. it was nice to have us all together doing this together, we all had a great time and only one was ready for it to end (dh who was exhausted) we treat Christmas Eve as a Fast day and do not open our gifts and celebrate then, we anxiously anticipate the feast of Christmas.

I remember when I was little. My parents, my brother and I would be going somewhere and my brother and I would make a game of who had the most Christmas lights on there side of the car. It was great and it past time also. I also did that with my kids when they was little.

In all honestly, my christmas was quite the experience. For one, we found out that one of my Aunts was pregnant. That was a shocker to everyone- now that makes three aunts in a row in my family that are pregnant. Secondly, we went over to my grandparents house, which is always one of the better parts of my christmas as a whole. This is simply because my grandmother cooks such good food, that everyones mouth waters before they even take their first bite. Unfortunately however, it turned out that my grandmother would not cook, and no one would get to enjoy her famous sweet potatoe cassaroll. As far as presents and everything else of that nature goe- I recieved some of the things I wanted, but not everything. I have learned not to let this get to me, because my birthday is on December 22nd, and therefore I usually dont get that many presents to begin with. Family is most important for my Christmas however- therefore, I had a good Christmas. Thank you for asking.

our celebration last christmas was a routine one..nothing special except that we are celebrating it in our new home..i always prepare for the nochebuena the usual food that i cooked only during the year that is embutido and roast turkey along with some fruit salad which they all enjoy eating together with us..we usually wait the 12:00 oclock stroke of midnight ..while waiting for that we do some family activities, if we are in the mood we go out the house and just drove along the city to view christmas decorations on the park and business establishments..if not then we just play cards ..and at the stroke of midnight we open all our respective gifts ..we usually eat at 8:00 pm..

I'm glad to hear you had a really nice Christmas. It's the most wonderful time.I can also say this Christmas has been the greatest of all times. We also start first at Christmas Eve.We have a tradition of eating all sorts of bread from the bakery's and then we just watched Christmas movies and talked. On Christmas day we first started with breakfast also with the leftovers and some extra's from Christmas Eve.We started again watching Christmas movies and in the afternoon we also started unpacking gifts and i always buy them but i got three extra gifts because i always buy them.So it was really nice.We also had a special gift we had a three days before Christmas. We bought a new dog and she's so sweet. So it was a great and perfect Christmas. Thank you for asking.

Hi there. It seems you have a very nice Christmas. Im not for your contest, but id like to share too my experience this Christmas. For it was yet the Best Christmas we had in our family. well, usually we dont celebrate the christmas eve. for the whole day of the 24th we are at the party on one of my aunts house, so for my immediate family, when we arrive home, we are very tired, and we had done everything in the party, like exchanging gifts, playing games. But this christmas is special, for we had celebrated too our own christmas in our own house. My sister had a small program, we play games, and theres a small raffle where you will laugh when you receive your prize. Its very simple but very fun. then we give each other hugs which is the first time too. and then we party all night. its very fun and i hope every year would be the same. :-)

I had a really good Christmas. We had turkey and then went to church and experienced the number one thing about Christmas, and that is Jesus.
