Trouble Gaining Weight

I was recently evaluated for kidney transplant and one of the doctor's told me that I need to gain about 10 pounds to get back to a healthy weight. His suggestion was to snack more. My problem is however that I never had much of a sweet tooth. I use to like chocolate and that's how I use to keep weight on. But the medication I was on after my diagnosis of Lupus destroyed my taste buds and now if I even smell chocolate I get nauseous.
So how am I suppose to gain weight! Any suggestions :)

Hi,
I just found your posting. I've had similar cases. I am also new at joining MyLot. How was your appointment with the dietition? Nutritionist may be wise to see yoo.
When my kidney was failing. I went on dialysis and was restructed of all food and drinks. Very difficylt to deal with.
Another period of time I had pancreatitis, which made me even more underweight. Then, what helped me a lot, and I loved, was lots and cans of delicious (hee hee) Ensure! They have different flavors, adn are very nutritious. I had at least 3 cans every day! (Morning afternoon, evening). There are plenty of other drinks too. Brainstorm and write down a list of foods that you like or would like.
Best of Luck!

Can you drink milk? How about smoothies? I believe there are weight gain formulations at the health food store that you could put into a milkshake or smoothie. If you can tolerate whole milk, add a banana for flavor that isn't too awfully sweet, if you can't handle ice cream maybe add some ice cubes in the blender and whirl it all up, maybe that would help. I agree that the dietitian is a good idea. Best of luck to you.

I love bread-lol. I use to like icecream but that taste kind of funny to me too now, except for sherbert but it's so sweet that I can't eat more than a few spoons. I should mention I've always been kind of a funny eater- I never really liked yogurt.
A dietician is a good idea- thank you :)
