Ok, I have a question. What is actually in fruit cake? I really don't like it because it tastes awful to me, but I was wondering if anyone knows what all goes into it and if there is a way to have fruit cake without the squishy jelly looking things? Thanks for your help.

fruit cakes have in them all sorts of dried fruits, like raisins, sultanas, figs any type of fruit, glazed cherries are probably the squishy things, orange rind.there are so many recipes for fruit cakes out there noadays.you usually soak the fruit in brandy, sherry for a couple of days then bake a cake.it is very rich sort of cake.and you either like it or not.i only like a little piece every now and then.i am not a great lover of fruit cake either.cheers sue

I know. It does taste horrible and I am just wondering if people really do like the taste of it. I don't get it. If it tastes so bad, why would someone want to put others through the horror? LoL!!
