What can numbness in the Hand Mean?

My left hand has been numb for a couple of days, it comes and goes. My doctor says it may be carpal tunnel, but I had that on my right hand and this feels different.
Has anyone experienced this?

it could be carpal tunnel but as could be a pinched nerve in the neck that happened to me i went to a Chiropactor that help me a lot
