why is it that nurses are so in-demand in countries such as the US?

i am a 2nd-year nursing student. like many others like me, it isn't really about helping the sick, it's all about getting paid pretty good. still, what i don't understand is why some countries are in GRAVE NEED of nurses. i wish someone could tell me why....

hi.. i am also a nurse from Philippines.. you are a 2nd year college and until now you don't know why other countries are badly needing nurses.. the answer for that is it is because people from other countries don't like to be a nurse (widen up your mind,.. alam mo na siguro kung bakit ayaw nila) and be proud because they want Philippine nurses because we are super caring daw.. and you must love nursing because if you like nursing just because of getting paid dollars, you are not a nurse coz a nurse serve and care within their hearts..
try to love it dude para mkapasa ka ng board..

well the truthis,i love computers and i wanted to be a computer engineer but my benefactors want meto take up nursing for practical reasons.anyways i'l follow on through your advice.nice one, im marking yours as the best comment!

First off - welcome to Mylot.
Well in the UK nurses are paid pretty poorly compared with other jobs and the working hours are not very friendly.
My daughter is a nurse and finds it difficult to stay in the profession.

well maybe it's because you're from a country with a higher standad of living(UK right?).here in my country(which again i dare not mention), thye standard of living is so low that everyone else is going abroad to work...

You are studying as a nurse because of the pay and not about helping others? WTF?? If that's the case, don't go study nursing for the sake of money when you don't have the heart to help...
There are other cruel jobs out there like insurance agent and lawyers who are cold blooded and make a lot of money
Last but not least, to answer your question......Most people do not want to be a nurse and that it is a low-wage job in many other countries...

well this is the cruel truth chunter. here in my country(which i dare not say), there a lots of nursing students who all hope to work abroad and earn money. i'l give you a hint: the exchange rate here is 40 to a dollar.see the picture?
