What packages of Chicken Broth do not contain celery, parsley, or carrots

We are having an Oriental type of dinner for New Years and one of the recipes was for won ton soup, only it included chicken broth. So we went down to Stupidstore, I mean, Superstore and later to Safeways and Sobeys, but most of the packages of chicken broth contained carrots, celery, and parsley and my daughter-in-law is allergic to them. We picked up some that did not list them, but after I made the wontons, my husband said just because it does not say on the package, does not mean that the ingredients would not be listed. I did not have time to make chicken stock and besides we only have a frying chicken and not a roasting chicken and we would not a good sized one to make enough not only for the soup, but to store some in the freezer. So does anyone know of a chicken broth carton that does not contain celery, parsle, or carrots? Or do I have to make my own?

I guess if you were going to go out to buy the package of broth you could have bought a chicken instead, but as you said you did not have time to stew it down. I think swansons is just the broth, but just because it does not have parsley or carrots in it does not mean it was created without them. it is actually likely that those ingredients were boiled along with the chickens and then removed before the canning process. I think to be better safe than sorry - if you are not going to make your own - it is best to contact the various companies and explain your situation and inquire of them if celery etc is used at anytime in the processing of their broth. other than that boulion or chicken base should be suitable, but perhaps too salty. I've never heard of a carrot alergy before. they are usually one item people who are alergic to so many things can actually eat. your poor d-n-l

It is a rare allergy and there is lots of things she cannot eat. I wonder how she can take a multi vitamin since they contain carotene.

interesting. is it the carotene then that she is allergic to? if I remember correctly carrots are related to queen annes lace and their wild version is poisonous to most (all?) thank you for the br.

Personally, I believe your husband is wrong. If it has anything other than chicken in it. That is because of people who have allergies. I think you are safe. My other thought would be to look in a Kosher foods section to see what you could find. Have a wonderful dinner.

I think it is required that the label say what is in it, because of people who do have bad allergies. So if your broth does not list celery, carrots or parsley in its ingredients, it does not have them. Most food sources will also have an 800 phone number to call, so you can ask a real person to reassure you. I understand how difficult allergies can be.

It is my daughter-in-law I am worried about. She has a deathly allergy to carrots and celery.

If its not listed, then its not in it. Those kinds of things HAVE to be listed. some spices don't, but those do.

Maybe in the States, they do, but in Canada they are not as careful. They're trying to pass a law making sure that they do, but then they have to get rid of the old stock.

A good chicken broth that you could use could be Swanson. Swanson is very good, i've been using it for a long time, I use it for my yellow rice. We also use it in the special family chicken soup recipe. You could also make your own chicken broth by boiling your own chicken, your own seasoning, like parsley perhaps even some paprika to give it color!

I have not seen Swanson's chicken broth, and my daughter-in-law is allergic to parsley and anything in the parsley family, that includes oregano and she loves Italian so when we have Italian, it all tastes like basil. I do use onions, and red and green peppers.

you just need to buy those chicken broth cube thingies. i belive it's knorr chicken broth cubes or something like that.we use it here all the time for oriental chicken recipes. still, the best thing to do if you want it to taste as best as it can be, use the real thing.make your own broth.in that way, you can be assured that it doesn't have anything else but chicken in it.

For some reason, we could not find any at Superstore --you can easily get lost in there. It is like a smaller version of Costco, but actually as far as I remember, it does contain celery and carrot seasonings.

If i am not mistaken i do believe that Swansons has chicken broth and it only has the broth, no veggies in it ,no seasoning at all just plain chicken broth...Another idea would be the Knorr chicken broth cubes, i use those all of the time and they are very good , the ones i buy contains nothing but the broth..You might try those...If these two has other things in them i am not aware of it..

I have not seen Swansons chicken broth, but I have seen Knorr ones, so I will look for those.

I always thought chicken broth was just that..chicken broth. Odd that they would contain all those other ingredients as well. I seldom buy chicken broth as I prefer to make my own.

I usually make my own, but we are having everyone over for New Years dinner.
