A Christmas prank?

Our Christmas started out like any other. Running late of course. And lots to do before leaving for Grandma's house to join the rest of the family for our dinner. We had lots of relatives this year, and most of the grand and great grand kids were able to come for Christmas or had made it for Thanksgiving.
Just a few minutes before time to eat the toilet over flowed, all over the hallway! While we were cleaning that mess up the phone rang. OH good maybe it was the one family from California that could not be there!!
Of course it was not. It was a bearer of the bad news of the death of a relative. The rest of the day was spent depressed with tears in all the grown-ups eyes.
The children were still having fun, so we tried to let them have their day.
The next morning /I got a call from a friend that knows my distant cousin, the Gr.daughter of the aunt that passed away.
She told me that , NO She had not passed but was doing well.
I was a bit thrown back. I got a few numbers and made a few calls.
Sure enough, she was doing well and out of ICU and in a room.
I can't believe that anyone would pass along news like this with out it being true! Thank goodness the day was still a good one for the kids, but I for one went home with swollen eyes, and cried al night for our loss of a great aunt.
Have you ever heard of anything like this? I have never!

OMG, that was just plain horrible, you poor kid. I'm very happy though that it all turned out well for you.
I've been reading some really strange stories here about Christmas day from people, and yours was one of them....so sad.
And no, I've never had this happen to me but I can surely feel how this must have ruined your Christmas.
Let's hope for a much better New Year for everyone, it's just gotta be!

That was terrible for someone to say that, and it wasn't true. from reading your story I thought you Great Aunt die at first, someone gave the wrong information, that happens all the time, you tell one person something they tell it to someone else, and before you get the story right, you have heard it 10 different ways. when people gossip that is the way it goes, but this wans'nt really gossip, someone just got the one information, that is bad. I know you felt better when you found out your Aunt didn't pass. That God! Have a Happy New Year! please to to my profile and join my website, I have got paid from it already and there is lots you can do. don't half to be on the website all day to make money.

I know it was awful to have this happen! But at least she is okay and doing better.
We play a game called gossip where each person wispers what they heard in the ear of the next person, and it is ALWAYS messed up by the end! LOL
I will look at your web site when I have time, I am about to leave for work.
Have a good day!

tammyr, I'm so sorry that this happened to you! What an awful way to spend your Christmas, worrying and feeling upset about something that turned out not to be true. I read what you said back to someone else about how you don't feel that this was intentionally done by the relative who contacted you, but I still wish for you that it hadn't happened. I hope that you have a lovely New Year's Eve and that 2008 is a truly wonderful year for you - with no more pranks like this, intentional ones or otherwise!
