Why women when they are pregnant are asociated eating peakles?

I think it not the pregnant lady, but the sweet little baby inside who is found of this sour- sweet taste of pickles, and that is why you also like it.....lol. Another reason my be that pregnancy starts with morning sickness, which involves lot of vomiting and leaves bad taste in the mouth and lemon is usually used to control this, which proves that sour taste is acceptable by new change in your body. From the experience old grandmothers know about this and passes this tradition from generation to generation and that is how it became famous and also shown in movies etc. You can tell you friends, no matter how much pickle a male will eat, he can never become pregnant... so enjoy you hot and sour pickles.......have a nice day.

i think it's quite true to a large extent. i think people who are pregnant feel nauseous and thus eating pickles makes them feel better. sometimes when i feel like eating pickles, then people ask me whether i'm pregnant!but i suppose women prefer these sour tasting foods even when they are not pregnant.

I think that is a great question. Being a mother of two, I can't even explain it. But, yes...I had the pickle cravings in the first trimester of pregnancy. And I really don't know why this is.

I think it's because the amount of salt they have in them, and women usually crave more salt during pregnancy...never really craved any while I was prego though :)

I don't know about women craving pickles when they're pregnant... I never did. But I did crave cucumbers, and that's what pickles are made out of. I don't even like cucumbers, but all of a sudden I was craving them! Eating them like mad! I was retaining water at the time, my hands and feet were puffy from excess water in my body. I found out many years later that cucumbers are natural diuretics, they help the body to release excess water. Just goes to show the ability that a body has to intuitively heal itself.

I don't know if its true. It was not for me when I was pregnant. I like pickles actually. But couldn't eat them. They gave me heartburn. For me my craving was Spinach Alfredo pizza from Papa Johns. Another thing I had alot of was chocolate milk. Could be only a prego pickle myth.

I have no idea where or why this came about, but i am pregnant right now, and i would rather not eat any kind of pickles. I Do not really like pickles. They taste bad! and they make me make faces cause they are so sour! I hate them actually. When i was trying to quit smoking, i would eat a pickle everytime i wanted a smoke so that i would not want one after a while. and it has worked.
