Has anyone ever found five dollars or more?

One day in a very busy federal building where I use to work, I found $5.00 on the floor (a $5.00 bill). People passed it by; and I was the one that noticed it. I asked coworkers if they were missing $5.00; and no one that I had asked lost $5.00 that day. I had $5.00 in my hand that I did not earn; and I felt very strange about being the one who noticed it on the floor in such a busy place.
Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them, maybe it involved more money or less. What did you do? What did you think?

I have had this sort of thing happen to me twice. The first time, I was about 9yrs. old. I was about to cross the street and as I did, I looked down and laying up against the curb was a $20 bill! I didn't know what to think. I took it home and showed my mom. She told me that since there was no real way to find out who lost it, that I should just save it, so that's what I did....well, at least half of it.
The second time I was an adult. I was going for a leisurly walk. It was a warm summer day with a nice little breeze blowing. I looked ahead a caught a glimpse of green paper float up in the breeze than land back down on the ground. When I got closer, I realized that it was a $1 dollar bill. I thought, "cool", and put it in my pocket. Then I took a couple more steps, and low and behold, I found three more single bills laying on the ground. So I picked those up as well. I figured that surely I would not find any more; but I took another few steps and bam! There was a $50 dollar bill laying on the ground!!!
Now that came to a total of $54 which I figured was quite a bit for someone to have lost; so I did make an effort to find out who had lost it. However, since it was just loose money with no wallet or anything around to help identify and owner, and everyone who claimed to own it, didn't seem to have a clue where it was lost and admitted that they had not even been in the area where I had found it, (I didn't tell anyone where I found it to avoid false claims, but I did causually bring up the area in a way that didn't give away that is was where I found the money and casually asked each person who tried to claim the money when was the last time that they were in that area, and they all said that they had not been in that area at all, or not for a very long time); plus, everyone who tried to claim the money was unable to tell me what the denomination of the bills were and how many to make up the amount,(such as if it was two $20's a ten and some ones or a $50 and some ones or whatever), so I was unable to identify or find the owner of the money. Therefore, I used the money to pay off a bill that I owed.

Hi betsyraeduke
Congratulations on your good little fortunes. You did the right thing by trying to find the owners of the bills. Maybe it was a windy day and someone had the wind grab his or her money away while trying to retrieve it from an ATM, or maybe it spilled from a cash bag, any way, luck seems to follow you, and I wish you much luck in the new year. Thank you for your response and Happy New Year.

I found a wallet on the street when I am walking in the market. It contained 300 pesos. Luckily, there was an ID, so I was able to return it back to the owner. :-)
