I have Asthma. I was diagnosed the first time when I was about seven years old. But, I never had any problems with it until I was in my thirties. Now, my doctor says that more than likely I was born with it.
I don't know that it is possible to outgrow Asthma, my sister thought that she had, but then when she gave birth to her triplets, fifteen years ago, she had an attack. Asthma is hereditary and a few people in my family have it.
Asthma is very hard for me to cope with. So many things make my Asthma act up. Right now, I am battling an episode. I caught a cold from my roommate, which caused my Asthma to act up. When I am stressed out, it causes me to have an attack. The cold weather messes me up, and strong fumes make my throat feel like it is closing up. I take Albuterol puffs for emergencies. I use Azmacort and Singulair for maintainance, and when I get the cold-like episodes, I have to take an antibiotic.

Hi Hope,
I worked for a pediatric Pulmonologist. We treated many, many children with asthma. The Dr. I worked for took much time training his patients and their parents on how to avoid and treat asthma attacks. Make sure you have a REALLY good doctor. A pediatric specialist. It's critical. It is essential that you stay on top of this Hope - many do not realize that asthma can be life threatening.
