How do you keep up with all of the posts and responses?

I'm afraid I'm appearing rude by not responding to every response I get for a discussion I post. I don't want to be rude, and I truly read every response and am greatful for every response, but sometimes a discussion will get so many responses that I would do nothing but respond all day if I responded to each response individually. Make sense? I there an implied ediquette with responses?
Also, are there "guidelines" for choosing a "best response?" If I have to choose just one response, won't the other responders get upset with me? It's like favoring one child over another. Well, not really, but I think you get the point. :)

You're not appearing rude by not responding to every response you get in a discussion. They will understand that because not all the time we have available time to respond each person due to lack of time or hectic schedule.
Nonetheless, it would be nice if you give a best response to one of your responders, as this will signify hardwork on his or her part. :-)

I think best way to deal with all responses would be if all lists of dicussions are sorted according to last response, newer responses being at the top. Now, we couldn't see if there is a new respone (minutes ago for example) to an old discussion (months ago), but we always see newer (1 week ago) discussions with not so new (1 week ago) responses on top.
If at least we could choose the sorting style of discussions, keeping up would be easier.

Oh, I like that Idea! Of sorting responses. Of being able to 'sort' responses - kind of like I do with my e-mail, too. And then, to save more than topics; to save comments, too! But then, I am a person who makes lists of my lists, so maybe I'm going too far. Sorry.

There are guidelines for responding to responses in your discussion. MyLot doesn't want you to reply, thanks for the response. This makes it so that I only reply when I have something more to add to the discussion. Sometimes this goes on awhile, but for the most part, I just read that responses that people give to my discussions. I also don't go back very often...
