For those taking anti-depressants - do you grind your teeth at night?

Sounds like an odd question. But my husband has noticed that I've started grinding my teeth a lot at night. I used to do this when I was young, and it's typically related to high stress - but I haven't done this in over a decade, and am not currently under any major stress. I noticed on the internet that it could be a side effect of some anti-depressants, although my actual medication doesn't list it as a side effect. And it didn't start happening until about six months into my medication. I was just curious to know if anyone else was experiencing the same thing? It isn't a huge deal, and I'll run it past my doctor the next time I see him. I was just wondering if this is a common occurance with anti-depressant medication. Thanks!

Hmm that's different. I don't do that. I would recommend asking your doctor about it. It could mean something is going wrong with your medicine. It's better to be safe than sorry!

Yes my hubby also told me a while back that I grind my teeth at night. It's weird but they don't hurt at all. I am on anti-depressants. I take Seroquel for Bi-Polar disorder, Zooloft for depression and Clonopin for my nerves. But I have been grinding my teeth for years and long before I started the meds so I couldn't tell you if it is because of the meds or not. Oh man my mother-n-law does it too. A few years ago I remember she stayed with us for Thanksgiving and in our old house our living room was right next to our bedroom. Well she was fast asleep on the couch and I was laying in bed trying to sleep and I hear this grinding noise. I knew it was her because hubby told me that she did that but I didn't think it was that loud. I had a hard time getting to sleep that night. Not to mention my brother-n-law was also there that night and he moans and yells in his sleep. Boy if I would have had the meds I'm on right now back then I would have slept right through it, lol. :)

I am on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. I grind my teeth all the time, I bite the side of my cheek when I do it. I never noticed if it was a side effect but I think I will look now.

Thats a possibility. My husband takes anti-depressants and he also grinds his teeth at night. He is supposed to wear a night guard on his teeth at night but he always forgets. His teeth are getting shorter and shorter. You might want to wear a night guard in your mouth at night to protect your teeth.I don't know for sure if the grinding of his teeth is related to the anti-depressants.He is bi polar.
