Hi,i admit it!!Im a pack rat and a big one at that!Hahaha.I just cannot get rid of things,especially things that have held a piece of my heart even if it has been since my childhood.I miss my childhood alot and kept mostly all of the things from it,from a t-shirt of my grand-fathers which he wore quite often that has a saying on the front of it with sparkly letters,a small kitty rubber trinket,my school jacket,sweater,cheerleading outfit,old magazines,phone books,sears catalogues that date back to 5 years ago still in the plastic,old set of car keys,etc.My boyfriend said im the packrat queen!haha.lol.I really dont know why,but it makes me feel good to have alot of things,which for some of it is called junk,but my house is clean and well prop.Its just the "collected" things are well put away in good places collecting dust.My boyfriend said one day i will be gone somewhere and he will do a "clean-up",no wonder i stay home all the time,haha!

I forgot to mention,i do get rid of things once a year especially in the summer by giving alot of things away to the local church,then i collect more after,haha!Im a collective packrat who cleans out the nest once a year for new packratting,lol.:):):)

Why do you have that thing called memory? Imho, many pack rats gather up what you would say as "junk" because those junk represent a period in time that a person could have enjoyed, brought amusement, cherished, or curiousity. Pack rats have a certain knack of gathering things even if at that time would not be used but would have a use sooner or later. Rather than throw or give it away then buy a new one. If it weren't for pack rats do you think auction sites would thrive and be so hot at times? Just my thoughts anyway.

Actually yes I do because Pack Rats aren't getting rid of anything even on an auction site. Not a true Pack Rat anyway. Theres a differance between collecting stuff and being a Pack Rat. Thanks for responding and happy new year.

Hey try to see the world from their point of view.It may be that they will give an argument that who knows what you will need at another time.Its certain peoples charecteristics and its not a bad one.So yu cant fault with it.
The funny thing may be that the pack rats may be thinking that you are wierd and are not keeping things that are not important.
Its important that you see the world from two different sides and then the world will be a much better place
