When did you get your first MP3 Player?

I'm ashamed to admit that I got my very first MP3 player for Christmas. It's an iPod shuffle and I LOVE it! Now, those of you under 20 probably won't understand what took me so long or why I'm excited, but that's ok. I have a laptop from 1999 and my 15 year old nephew can't understand why it is not internet ready LOL For him, most of the technology that's available today has been around his entire life. He doesn't know what it was like before there were PC's and the internet. He wonders how we ever got along with only a home phone! How uncivilized. So, when did you get your first MP3 player, or when did you get your first anything of new technology that you were excited about...like your first DVD player, or, if you're not affraid to show your aged, your first CD player even? I don't know if there would still be anyone around who can tell a story about their first vynal record, but if there is speak up!:)
