I am trying to figure out what program to buy. I hear a lot about photoshop. I just do amature pictures of my kids but want more options but something not too complicated. Also it would be nice to be able to do something with video. What program do you use or think is the best/easiest to use? I could really use some help before I put out the money to but it.

photoshop is great, but it's also expensive
If you are just looking to edit basic pictures of the kids - crop edges, change color, add some special effects, or get rid of red eye, I suggest using free software like Irfanview, Serif Photo, or Kodak.
www.download.com is a great place to find these or others

thanks, maybe I will try one of these before I invest in expensive software. Also, there are different versions of Photoshop and I was trying to read different comments on line from people which makes it even more confusing on which is for me!

if you`re interested only in simple and basic image tuning i would suggest using irfanview. it's light, simple, and it's easy to work with. photoshop on the other hand is a powerful editing tool and you can do a lot of things. with video, you can use adobe after effects, but... i`m still working on that one for almost an year now, and it's not that simple:)

I think I need to start off simpler, thanks. I have a tendancy to get in over my head. I bought a camera that is way too complicated and now end up using my pocket one more often because of that. I would probably do the same with Photoshop so thanks for the advice
