is this the real new year???

ok well according to the Gregorian calender the new years is january 1, but to other cultures their different dates, and to many indigenous people say that it is march 12, lead year then march 11, now the reason y is because of spring new life, regeneration...etc etc so which do u guys thing is the real new year...

Well... I don't really think that there's an accurate New Year's day because of the different beliefs that we have around the world. What matters to me most is that we get to celebrate this one once a year. ^^

It's been celebrated by different cultures at different times, so it's really hard to tell. There's always the Chinese New Year in February, and the Celts counted Samhain (Oct 31-Nov 1) as the new year. Those are the two ones I can think of offhand, and I know there are tons more.
I don't see how there is really one that could be "right". The whole idea of years in general is a man-made thing, so it's not like there is a natural "year". I can see the argument you're giving for it being spring, though, that's kind of nice.
