Fireworks or Gunshots?

As the ball dropped closer and closer to the pedestal bottom, the new led crystals replacing small bulbs giving off more illumination than in past years, the crowd of people venturing out and around all of Times Square and bam it is 2008!!!Did you hear gunshots fired off in celebration OR did you see Fireworks displaying celebration?
