The reason why I love "Shrek"

I love "Shrek", because it is the only fairytale I know where, instead of the beast turning into a prince charming, the beautiful princess turns into a ogre. I think that's a brilliant idea. It is very comforting, especially for a woman, to know that she can be loved for what she is inside, not only for her surface level.

Do you know I hadn't thought of it that way, I was just really pleased that the goodness in Shrek shone through. Now that you mention it though it does appear that the happy ending always involves the monster being transformed into a handsome Prince.

I loved both Shrek 1 and 2 and thought they're amazingly entertaining and fun to watch. Loved the soundtrack too. I also liked the message that a little honesty with each other, considering the other person's feelings, and being nice to each others' families helps even more than a magic potion.

It is an hilarious fairytale, with something for all ages to enjoy. A wonderful cast of actors makes the performance all the more real. I like the fact that Shrek has turned the traditional fairy tale on his head - it is no longer a scary beast that turns into a hansom prince, this is the princess who changes. I do feel that there is a clear and positive message coming from the film, showing that beauty is not only skin deep and judgements should not be made in such a stereotypical manner.
A joy for all the family!
