Does anybody keep track of their time on myLot?

I'm not sure I would know how to begin! I'll be candid and say I'm not here to make money (revelation? chuckle!), and that myLotting is something I sneak in between other tasks. For fun! And to learn new things!
Being a very fast reader and a faster typist, I think it would take more time and effort to try to keep tabs on how much time I spend here than it takes to be here.
Diversity is the spice of life, though, and it is impossible not to notice that some myLottians work methodically through their myLot tasks and to my amazement some can even speculate as to how many hours they myLot per day or per week. How do they do that?Which kind of myLottian are you? Careful or methodical or some interesting combination of the two?Do any of you use special software to count up the exact minutes and seconds you are here and view a report on demand? That would be so cool! Or not? Would you rather not know?
What is your strategy for enjoying myLot? Tell us all what is fun for you and who knows, maybe I and others can profit from your experience and learn a better way to have fun earning and learning here!

I would absolutely, with not even a shadow of doubt, rather not know how long I spend on MyLot!
I am living in my brother's big, deteriorating, ice cold, over-flowing with junk storage bin of a house called Stonewall.
I can see my breath in the kitchen, so I'd much rather be sitting by the fire on my computer.
And I don't want to exert myself too much, since I can only take a luke-warm shower in an ice-cold bathroom... I'd much rather be sitting by the fire on my computer.
I don't have a job, it's too friggin cold to work on any of my projects, and really, the main thing I'm doing is waiting for spring when I can finish raising the beds in my mother's garden and get on down the road.
I want to write a few stories, but NEEDING to write them gets in the way so that MyLot becomes the perfect distraction.
If I were to see in print the number of hours I spend 'wasting my talent' here on mylot I would be forced to face the true story of my desperation.

Ah, thinking of the sweet breath of spring already, eh? You would be surprised how many times sitting here "wasting" on myLot makes me come up with a story that I toddle off and write. You would like my computer then, as sometimes I do think it has a fire under it. this puppy heats up the whole room. It has a good fan, that is why, but for a laptop this model runs hot and scorch a person's kneecaps.
Burning time to keep warm? That is a good reason to rather not know!

HAHAHA! Burning time to keep warm! What a great line! I might have to rent it from you one day, or at least quote you!
Boy if I had a laptop that had a fire under it, I would not get out of bed! Well except to feed me and my crew, who would be down there keeping my feet warm. Except for Wolf who would be off somewhere pouting.

Hi Drannhh,
Happy New Year. I had a similiar discussion about this called "Mylot Schedule". I have noticed that I can be on Mylot for a very long period of time. I cannot always pinpoint exactly how long. I decided to have a schedule for my Mylot use in order to Mylot (used as a verb) better. I have a schedule as a way of promoting healthier and more sensible Mylotting. I am a very busy person, and ever since discovering Mylot, I knew I was going to find a way to be a part of this community. I would say I am careful and methodical. Take Care.

A healthier and more sensible way! Wonderful. In fact, I am now going to step away from myLot to go make a healthy lunch for me and hubby. As addicted as I am to myLot, I try to eat properly in the dining area and keep my computer handcuffed in another room. I will check out your other discussion. Thanks for the head up, and Happy New Year to you, too!

I don't have any specific strategy here as long as I can type and read fast like you. And I answer a question at least 20 to 30 question a day. For me, theres no definite time to visit and replying some question here in mylot. If I can make it to 50 response per day I can do it but sometimes I can't make it because of some busy works. Some people say that it is not the quantity of response but it is the quality of response you make that can you earn here a big money. I hope it is true.
For me, mostly, I am here in mylot in the evening and I spent mostly 2 to 3 hours before I sleep. But if I have time in the day, I visit my account here and look for some question to answer and I ended to answer mostly 5 to 10 questing everytime I visit mylot.

i dont keep track of time of how long i am online but on a daily basis i usually be here for the maximum of 2 hours every sundays thru thursday. sometimes i just sneak for a couple of minutes.
im a careless mylotter. LOL! and for that 2 hours ill just browse, if i dont like participating or my backpain is killing me i just stare and read interestiong discussion.
im not here for money too..[im pretty sure of it!] LOL! cause responding to some pretty lovely discussion is a great way of wasting my free time. LOL! and some discussion gives you ideas or tips on how to look at life at a better angle! hehehe!
happy new year ann! ^-^

i would like it if mylot kept track of how many posts you made each day instead of the number next to your name the way they do it. I don't really time it, maybe a total of 1 hour each day? It is definately jusy for fun, I could make a heck of a lot more working...but i get to be home with kids and the illusion of adult conversation, so it is fun for me.

I love the illusion of adult conversation. Yes, I was just admiring the ability of some people to sort of mentally tally up the number of posts. My brain doesn't work that way, so I agree it would be wonderful if myLot kept track for us. It is like playing cribbage online. I'm not very good at it anyway, but without the game adding for me I'm totally hopeless.

i dont really keep track of my time in mylot.i just enjoy every discussions and responses i go into.but most of the time i am on mylot rather than any site.mylot is rewarding because we can have lots of freinds and also neemies!hehehe!that was just part of the discussion,i think i am more of an oppositionist when it comes to discussions.i love to go against the tide and defend my post.maybe it was my nature dunno.i love to see somebody lose in discussion with me.anyway that might be the reason why my old account was de-activated by mylot hehehe!but now i am more cautious in responding to discussions but still an oppositionist still.in my online time, mylot eats up more than 70 percent of my time.that's how addicted i am to mylot.

So you have had to start all over again, eh? Well, that experience does not seem to have taken the smile off your face. Soon you will undoubtedly have all of your many friends back, and probably a few "neemies" too, lol. Good luck to you, and thank you for chipping in here.

I don't! I'm here most of the free time I get. I'm sure that's going to change when I start working (which isn't for another 6 months).
I'd rather not know how much time I spend here (I think I spend way too much some days)
But I'd surely like to know if someone does it in an organized way.

Yes, isn't it wonderful to be off work! I thought that within a few months of retiring I would be restless and want to go find some new job, but that did not happen! I cana't believe some of the nice opportunities I gleefully let slip by. And no I don't feel a bit guilty about not "working" --been there, did that!

I just do my best to burn some time around here, I have noticed that my time of activity here has minimized right before crossing my first anniversary here. The money I earned during the time I was here was very different, but I didn't thought about it even if I received less than what I get before. I believe that during those times, there are lots of interesting discussions for me to respond at, ideas to post or start and the site was not that much complicated.
Right now, I am quite busy in my personal life that I could only slip up some time here on the net. I do my best to divide it and manage, so I know when it is to stop and when to jump into a new interest.
When I come here, I just make sure that I answer posts and subjects that I believe matters most to me then leave if ever I know I have fulfilled my duties as a mylot member.

Good question...for a site that can be very addictive...especially for new members. When I first signed on coming on to eight months ago I keyed my fingers to the bone. First to make my 100 credits and see what star rating I had..then to make the 500 club so I could cut and paste...after that I was determined to hit the 1,000 mark. I lost track of time and my hubby was beginning to feel like a Mylot widower.
That track was during May, June, July and into August. Then things started to get busy with work and personal commitments and I had made my 1,000th post. With work and personal commitments taking a higher priority...and the holiday season to boot my time on Mylot was dramatically reduced.
My hubs and I are self-employed and can set up our work in a flexible way. My plans for Mylotting and keeping my work as a free lance writer, life coach and group leader in balance is to allocate an hour or two consistently each day...and longer periods is and when time permits. I have been here most of the day while my husband is doing his work...tomorrow and the weekned maybe not so much. I am not here for the earnings either...but it is a nice little perk for something I enjoy doing anyway.
If I have stragegy about how and when I Mylot it is this. When time is short I log on to my site and follow my motto of a response for every response there as a priority. Then I make visiting friends and those who support my site next on my absolute yes list. On those days I post my discussion last and then sign off knowing I will be back to respond to every response the next day or I will not do a discussion until I am confident that I will have the time to comment. Other times I just wander around Mylot land and comment on all topics that interest me.
So my long winded answer to your question about tracking time is a yes and no. Sometimes I do other times I just key away and go with the flow.
Cheers and happy Mylotting in whatever way you choose to do it.

Actually your method sounds very much like mine, except that instead of blocking out a solid chunk of time I sneak most of the responses in while waiting for other pages to load or whatever.
We are alike, too, in that we don't like to start a conversation unless we will have time to be courteous in our replies to our "guests."
As for long-winded answers, I just love those! Thanks much.

Geez, if I did that I would probably get depressed! I spend way too much time on here. (At least when my family isn't home or my finger isn't broken LOL) I know I could make way more money doing my other programs but, I just keep coming back here to see what my friends are doing.

Actually I have learned about some income making opportunities that I never knew existed until coming to myLot, so I tend to think of the earnings here as being one thing and some other earnings as being related to our being here even though myLot doesn't foot the bill. I think that is way kewl.

I don't really keep strick track of the time I spend here. I just do not log on unless I am done with everything else I have to do or if I am waiting for a phone call. I use it as a time filler inbetween other things. Like right now I am logged onto two other sites and I am waiting for answers to a couple of queries at these other places. Every once in a while I check back with them. If they have answered, then I proceed etc. Multi tasking long distance!

This sounds like wisdom to me! At first I waited until all my "work" was done but then I realized I was doing too much work, so now I hit the e-mail notifications as soon as I log on and then "salt and pepper" my daily tasks with intermittent sprinkles of myLotting. It sure make the time go by fast, though! Too, fast!

Today is too cold to do anything else except sit here in a big warm shawl and post. The heater doesn't work so I have an infrared heat lamp over the bird and she is so warm that she just tried to take a bath in her water dish. I snagged that away from her. No wet birds today.
Fla. is never ready for cold weather. Old buildings like this have little or NO insulation. The heating is primative or NIL. The windows are LEAKY. I did put weather stripping around the door and the part of the windows that I could. But the glass just transfers the cold like it wasn't there. And the building is so damp that it "rains". I have to dry the ceiling every once in awhile. Its good excersize. Are we havin fun yet? You Bet!! See you in the funny papers!

I haven't been keeping track of my time here on mylot, but I think it's a good idea to do so. I sometimes get lost in weaving my way through the postings. It's very interesting, and sometimes I want to post, and I don't find it user friendly.
So right now I'm just meandering my way around until I stumble upon something to talk about :)
I've earned .20 in my short time here. I guess that's cool.
Well, time is flying by and I have a new crochet project to start, so bye for now :)

I can relate! Sometimes myLotting gets in the way of my sewing. Projects are mounting up.
Wow, I felt just like you about the user-friendly when I was at 23 posts, and still at 1000 posts, but now it seems rather more intuitive, so hang in there.
When I earned my first 12 cents here I could not believe anyone ever made payout here, but now I have qualified for payment several times already and it has been true that the pennies add up much faster now that I have more and nicer friends and though still clueless on some things, can find my way around a bit better. You will feel more comfortable soon!

hi drannhh!! ^__^
when i'm in the office i can estimate how much time i spend on myLot since it is very limited time. LOL i sneak between work just to log in here and post something. but if i'm at home, i can't estimate how much time i spend here since i also do somethings and not just myLot. ^__^ but i guess if i would count it, i think 1/3 of the total time i spent here on the net at home is purely on myLot. LOL
i don't really have any strategy on enjoying myLot. at times, i get bored here too. at times i get tired of this too. but after a few days, i would miss myLot and all my friends here. i guess what makes me enjoy myLot is how people freely participate in the discussions and share their own opinions and experiences. ^__^

I wouldn't know how to keep track on my time on MyLot - and I don't honestly think I'd like to know!
I have no method - I just come on here a couple of times a day to respond to my friends' discussions, etc., and see what's going on with my friends. In enjoy it and I do it, because first and foremost, it's fun, the money is secondary for the peanuts that we earn. When (and if), it stops being fun, then I will call it a day!

No method here either. Since I don't remember to even look at the earnings for days at a time, if I had software to track the time it is unlikely I'd look at that either. It would be fun to have a choice though. Glad you are having fun here! I appreciate your thoughts on this.

I don't exactly keep track of my time here on mylot... all i do is i log on as soon as i am in the office then log off when i am about to leave... i just leave it like that even if i am doing something or i eat my lunch or snacks... and i do get 2 days of mylot break which is the weekends when i don't go to work... but very soon i wouldn't be able to mylot since i am leaving my current work... i just hope that there will be internet connection and i will have my own computer in the next work that i will get...
