So it's come down to repainting the instrument panel on the '64 Fairlane I'm restoring. I think model paint will be best for this. Can mix to the desired color and not have a pint or more of paint leftover when the job is done. So I tear off to Kaybee toys to find some. I go to the mall, go upstairs to where I remember the store and viola! It's not there. Then I remember that they moved downstairs like a trillion years ago and I've only been in that location a trillion times. Old timers is on high output. As I go thru the store, I notice a distinct change of venue. I see more of the cheap quick sell toys than I do of models. No worries. Models are always near the back and so I went. Just as I suspected, the models were there. But where's the paint?! I scour the entire store and to no avail. I ask the "sales associate" since I can't find the "cashier" and am told that they don't carry paint and that she has no idea of where to go to get any. Wow. Things have changed. No model paint in a store that sells models. Should've known. They don't have cashiers either. But this ill fated adventured cost me $8.62. And I didn't get what I came for. While I was in the model section, there was a die cast model of my first car there. And another of the 5th generation of my current car. Only $3.99 each. What the heck. It'd be a shame, after all that searching, to leave empty handed, right? Maybe if I spend more they can afford to bring back the model paint, right? Have you ever buckled like this?
