Can animal soul be uplifted by music?

Are animals souls touched and uplifted by the same music that touches and uplifts the souls of human beings?
I noticed that my animals like to sleep when sounds of natures are on. Do they feel it, hear it, and enjoy it? Am I right when playing soft music when away from home?

I have a lot of music on my computer that I call my 'Temple Music'. It's the music that I do yoga to, or just keep playing in the background all day or night. All my animals seem to enjoy it. I say that because they stay in the room snoozing or whatever. And if I am playing noisier music they leave.
Also, I often chant 'om' for 15 or 20 minutes and every time I do my dog gets up from whatever other room he is napping in and comes into the room with me. Every single time, no exceptions.

I don't know about music. my cat seems interested to watch video or TV whichever we are watching. not all the time, but if she can't get us to play with her, she will sit in front of TV and watch. I have a collection of music I play when doing simple yoga, but she is more curious of what I'm doing rather than the music :):)

my dogs are funny when I am doing yoga, they want to be part of the play...trying to fit with me on my mate...
My cat seems to like music more than computer, she didn't see my TV on for last 5 months, maybe she can watch when I turn it on...

I'm sure that cats and dogs are affected by music. My two dogs seem to like it when I play music (loud or soft, it doesn't seem to matter), and when I sing along to a song, they get really excited and start running round the house! I usually pick them up and dance with them so perhaps they are running away, lol! They do love it though. When we go out I always leave the radio on for them, it seems to comfort them hearing music or talking!

Isn't it right? I have my music on for 24/7 lately and we all like it....it is very soft meditation music...
Right now my dogs are snoring with 'Forest Raindrops'....

I believe that animals can be effected by certain kinds of music. There have been cases where if a certain type of music is played in a garden (usually Mozart), wild birds tend to stay undisturbed, but where rock music can be heard coming from an open window, birds avoid the area. I am not saying the classical music is better than rock music, it's just what was discovered - as a musician I love all genres of music.

Hello dear polachicago. I think that animal soul can be uplifted by music. You see, when music is played on an animal farm like chickens and cows, the hens and cows will be more productive. Can you imagine the great function by music! So I think that my answer is positive to your question. Thanks for sharing your discussion.

lol, very good one...maybe you can get him real job in local orchestra...just kidding...
I know I can get real job for my older dog, she can be an expert for meditation music, because she is not only sleeping but also talking when sleeping...

Hey, we used to play the radio on the farm for the chickens! They liked the Minnesota Twin's baseball games best (didn't matter if they were winning or not). When I play the violin, and haven't practiced in a while, my cat is out. of. here.! He'll go to another floor of the house. If he likes it and stays in the room, I know I've been practicing. What a stiff critic!

Well my kitties are used to my playing music...everything from good old rock, movie soundtracks, new age, or classical. And they don't seem to mind whether I play it soft or loud. I love to sing around the house too, and they do seem to be affected by certain songs (unless they are trying to tell me to shut up) I used to have one cat that would come running over every time I sang Annie Lennox's Into The West from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King movie. And just last night even though Christmas is over I decided to watch The Polar Express again, and began singing that song "Believe" and both Pyewacket and Kissy came and snuggled alongside me as I sang--so yup I do think animals are uplifted/affected by music
I used to have all those nature sound tapes myself..the "environmental" ones-I happen to have one that has sounds of wolves howling..boy you should have seen the cats react to that one...LOL

Lol, My cat and my dogs would go crazy if they hear wolves.
They are positively affected by Karunesh, Underwater Cave, Rainforest, Ocean waves and more...
It is snowing already for 24 hours and they all are sleeping with music on....
My older dog seems to makes funny sounds while sleeping, so maybe she is singing in her dreams...lol

I heard an interview on NPR a few years ago about a CD of music for dogs.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4530776
Dr. Kim Ogden-Avrutik and Skip Haynes compiled the album. They say dogs responded positively to music which didn't feature certain types of percussion or the word "no." My favorite song on the album is "Squeakey-Deakey" (featured at the site above.)
