Anyone go to Time Square to watch the ball drop last night? Have you ever gone?

I have always wanted to go to the New Year's Eve bash at Time Square. My family thinks standing there for twelve hours without being able to move much or go to the bathroom doesn't sound enjoyable. Did anyone go last night or have you ever gone? What's it like. Is it a blast or a miserable experience. Do you think it depends on the person? If you have gone, what time do you have to get there? If you live in the area where do you park? Do you drive or take mass transit. I live in New Jersey. I would love to know about the experience. I'm hoping to go someday, maybe next year.
