Begining to hate this weather

Well another day of just single temperatures for the highs and below zero again at night. I don't mind this typew of weather usually as it's norm for Minnesobrrrrr. But I have a terrible cold and going out in it kills me especially since I have bronchial-asthma as well. When it's this bitter as soon as I step outside from the heat to the crisp frozen air I have a mild asthma attack. I am used to this but now I am sick from it litterally. Haven't felt good all day even after an 8 hour nap. HAHAHAHA! Hopefully after a good nights sleep I'll feel a little better. I am having some hot peppermint tea with honey and lemon. This makes my throat feel better as well as clearing out the sinuses for the time being. Plus it will ease me to sleep better. What do you do before retiring for the night when you have a terrible cold? Any special home remedies to share? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sorry to hear you not feeling up to par, Grandpa Bob. Have you tried a full face mask while your out in the frigid temps? That's what my hubby uses and it helps him alot with his asthma because he's breathing in warm air instead of the cold air. B4 he bought it, he couldn't be out in the cold for more than an hr. now he can stay out all day long as his body doesn't get cold. I drink lots of hot tea when I'm sick and usually drink a mug of it with honey right b4 bed to help me sleep.

I feel like I am choking in those full face masks. The air affects me for just a moment is all. It's the same once I go inside from the cold, I have a mild attack. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Snow is lovely, but enough is enough, and it sounds as though you have had your fill of it. Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good with a cold - the hot peppermind tea with honey and lemon will be good for your throat. When I have a cold, I make up a drink of glycerine, honey and lemon mixed with hot water - sip it slowly and it soothes the throat real nice. Hope you feel better soon - and hope you don't have any more snow!

No No Noooo! The snow is great. I'd love more actually. It's these bitterly cold temps and einds that mess with my asthma is all. Thanks. Oreo, my mom used to give us kids a show of Old Grandads Whiskey heated up for colds. It doesn't help a cold it just knocked us oput at bedtime was all. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Becareful what you wish for....If I remember correctly you were all happy with winter getting here. Well its here now. I know you were more excited about the snow then the cold. So far its been winter brrrrrr. Its been cold and snowy in my neck of the woods too. Winter just started too. THINK SPRING!!!!!!!!!! I do hope you get to feeling better, I know how the wintertime colds can be. We all have it here too, its going around all over. get some humidity in the air, that helps some. Keep you mouth covered when going out in the cold air. The hot peppermint tea with honey and lemon sounds good.

Stay inside. Get hot tub. Make sure to wear warm socks and keep your feet warm and dry. Get some tea with honey and lemon. Stay under cover. Get some rest. Calming herbal tea is good as well. Onion, home made syrup is the best. Stay warm! It is very cold today in Chicago. Good news, they say it is getting warm again...maybe up to 53(!) on Sunday....(at least in Chicago) Isn't it crazy?

I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling good. I have been sick with broncial-asthma/cold the past three weeks. The cold part is much better but I cough all the time especially when I go out in the cold, which is around 0 degrees. It is so hard to breath. I love the snow too, but hate the freezing cold.:)

well, my recomendation is that you stay at home because it is very cold outside and if you are sick the cold weather might not be good for your health. My best recommendation is for you to drink a lot of fluids and have plenty of rest. Take care

I turn on the heated mattress pad, rub Vicks vaporub on my feet and put on socks. I use saline nasal spray all day, and keep it by my bed. I keep Fisherman's Friend lozenges by the bed in case I cough in the night.(These taste nasty but they are effective.) I take the store brand of Mucinex. Hot spiced cider might be another good drink, because something in apples is supposed to help asthma and other breathing disorders. I hope you get better soon. I wish warm weather for you as well.

I try to get my wife to buy either a heated pad or an electric blanket. The blankets we use are way too hot for sleeping under. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No way Grandpa Bob. I don't beleive it. Once you have another two feet of snow on the ground, you will feel different. And the cold? Cold is nothing more that the measurement of the amount of heat. Remember, until you get down to absolute zero (about -469 degrees) there is always some heat in the air. That should perk you up a bit..lol.

Well, I got some Afrin PM and some Benadryl, some Tylenol and some Motrin. This was last nights bedtime concoction. I sleep most of yesterday too. I also have a cold and have asthma so those wonderful cold medicines are all a no-no. I also take a shot of ventolin or combivent, since I also tend to have more attacks at night when I lay down.

I always drink warm tea and eat chicken soup if I had cold or migraine. I can go to sleep without taking Advil if I do this, but sometimes I still take Advil. Lemon tea is my favorite, but in winter I have to warm it. Plus I'm trying to be pure vegetarian so I have to find alternative to chicken soup

Poor webeishere!Sorry to hear that you are suffering from a serious cold and bronchial-asthma in the bad weather days! Now I have a sunny day but the temperature is still below zero outside.I don't want to go outside because our dorm is warm but it is cold outside. When I suffer from a bad cold,my mom always makes fruit soup for me.This soup is sweet,it makes me feel better.

I've been kinda sick around christmas as well. my favourite remedy is manuka honey with hot water. it is supposed to be really good for your throat and for clearing the nose airways. there is some manuka honey that is classified as 10+ active. which means the curative agent in the honey is stronger. i have been taking that almost every night when i feel like my nose is not doing so well. taking the honey direct from the pot is also good in soothing the throat. better than any honey flavoured lozenges!

Oh yes I am sick of this weather too. I just got over a very bad cold and my mom thought I was getting pneumonia but I'm fine now. I went and bought a huge square of straw for my animals and they are happy now with all of the straw I put in their dog boxes. I have a rabbit inside and put a ton of straw in his cage and he keeps burying himself under it. The worst of it is our furnace is broke and we are using 2 heaters and the oven to keep warm and 2 big heavy blankets. I'm warm right now but when I leave the house I turn all of the heaters off in case of a fire so it takes me a while to get warm again. Hope you get to feeling better soon. The only home remedy I have is hot tea but you are already drinking that so it should help. Hope so. I was taking Day Quil and Ricola honey cough drops because I hate the Halls menthol and the cherry and grape flavor. I was sick for 2 weeks and I am still coughing but then again I smoke so that doesn't help. My sister, her fiance and my niece just got over the same cold and my mom is sick again too. I can't wait until Spring gets here! Get better soon, ok. :)

What I do when I have a bad cold or when my allergies are acting up is have a hot cup of tea with honey and lemon, just like you, and I plaster myself with Vicks VapoRub. I love that stuff! I've been thinking of trying those tablets that you drop into the shower that's supposed to help open your sinuses and help chest congestion. Annie
