What do you do when you are depressed or down?

I normally like to pray or meditate when I am down or depressed. Some people like to do shopping, see movies or listen songs when they are depressed. Some people like to be left alone when they are depressed. I like to know what my mylot friends do in such circumstances.

I usually like to be left alone and sleep through it. Or maybe I would do something or read something to divert my attention. But I don't feel depressed or down very often, I usually feel more bored and don't know what to do *laughs*.

Hi! I just wanted to tell you I'm the same way. Depression doesn't come often to me. Boredom is more common, although I usually don't experience either! Sometimes I wish I had more free time, but that's life for you. I like your response to this discussion, too, because I love reading books also. Take care!

Hi saurabh1234567! When I am depressed I like to be left alone and prefers to sort out things on my own. I do indulge in shopping or eating to divert my tensions or worries.I sometimes watch some comedy movie alone too when i am depressed.

dear Anna, i feel ups and down are life cycles and no one is happy for all the time throughout life..but i feel when depressed then its difficult time as we block our thinking abilites and can not think what to do..But i like your view to divert our mind to some other place or i like to meet favorite person and spend time with that person or one more thing i do is, Meet to funny person and get fresh..Its helps me to get out of it..thnaks for sharing your view and have a rising life...

In order to release the depression,I prefer to eating my favourite dishes.Eating can release my stress and give me new power,strength and confidence.After eating,I go to bed and enjoy a sweet sleep.Then tomorrow is another day!

Three things I do when I am depressed or down. one -- I tell GOd how I feel and ask Him to take me through two - I read my bible while playing some soothing praise adn worship cds and three - I come to mylot and do some work. It helps. Happy new year

Hello here ,dear friend ! For me ,I like to be left alone when I am depressed.At that time ,I need to think about the whole things .What wrong about me ?Why I feel depressed ?What could I do to change this circumstances? Whether that is because of myself ?Meanwhile ,when I feel depressed ,I don't want to do anything ,even meet anybody .I need a quiet place !

I often pray when I worry. I also like to listen to music. One other thing that relaxes me is to work. When too depressed, I write in my journal...when I can find it.

Initially i feel very much down. it seems world has come to an end. this continues for few days. then I try to fight back. some times i pray to find solace. I also sometime like to forget it by going to shopping.

When i am depressed which is rare for me..Shopping does not help, that is the last thing i feel like doing..When i shop i want to be in a happy mood..I usually pray, cry and moop around, and sometimes i talk to a friend, that seems to be all that helps me...

You are right. We should always pursue to our God. His mighty is the best one to resolve our problem. Seeing movies or listening music is not solution. We should pray and should ask the help of the lord of the universe. This will cause to satisfy and will also solve your problem. This is the right way. The way of faith and way of living teaching our religions.

As for me I will buy a lot of delicious food which I don't usually buy due to the money problems and then I will a have a sound sleep ,after this sleep everything will be good for me.. Actually most of the time I will divert my attention from the bad mood.I will full myself from learning from reading as I think that there is no good thing that is better tahn learning..as long as I have learned something and forget the bad things that happen to me.This is the most good sate that I wanna to achieve.. What I really wanna to say is that life is limit rather tahn waste our preasure on the bad mood we should aim at having a cheerful life ..How can thsi cheerful life gain?As for me in the process of learning.. When i am feeling down i clean and clean and clean LOL. a cleaner house helps me feel like my life is clean even though my mood is sad

My experience has been: Prayer & meditation don't do sh%$! If Prayer worked & God listened to me I wouldn't B in this mess 2 begin with... That doesn't mean I don't pray, I do... Sorry, just lost a great job cuz uv PC Office bullsh%$, I'm a little miffed... I must say music does help calm me, along with exercise...& I do need some alone time...In contusion... Get up, dust yer butt off & move on... AC

Hello saurabh! that's good,meditation helps great during depression.at the same time you avoid polarising your thoughts and indulge in talk to your friends and relatives, vent your feelings to them and find out solutions.verbalise your problems.the more you bottle up,the you will find it difficult to find hope.when you are under depression go for a walk for at least 15 minutes.try coming close to the nature,feel the sand on the beach,the texture of petals....appreciate God's creations.come home,take a deep breath and visualize all that you just saw and felt.have good diet.during depression we usually lose our appetite,but do not skip meals or breakfasts.when you are under depression certain hormones work overtime,and to balance that have proper diet and plenty of fluids.chanting of Mantras and singing devotional songs can help relax your mind.focus your mind in good feelings,think of God with all sincerity with a pure heart,have faith on Him and get lost with it.you will feel relaxed after some time and all stress and tensions of life will evaporate.thank you.be happy.

When I'm feeling depressed, I also like to pray as you do. I don't usually meditate on things unless they're happy things that will pull my mind out of the slums, so to speak. When I'm depressed, I like to shop as long as my actions are within reason. For instance, if I'm depressed and go shopping and end up spending too much money, I'll become depressed all over again over how much money I spent! So I have to be careful that way. I like watching movies, but they definitely have to be comedy in type because if I watch a sad movie, that will make me sad all over again. I can't really listen to music when I'm sad or depressed because it seems to me like I listen even harder to the words of each song and it really saddens me. So many songs nowadays are about lost love or sad things like that. I don't find listening to music very comforting! When I'm truly depressed inside, I normally focus on other things. I love helping others and seeing them smile. I try my best to do that because it takes all the sad feelings away. They say the true cure for depression is to help others. Although I've never been clinically depressed, I've experienced trying circumstances that have tempted me to become that way. I believe we've all been through trials in our lives. I love this discussion because so many people can relate! I hope some of my ideas will also help you in the future when you feel sad.

Whenever I feel down, I always pray to the Lord and He comforts me. I know He is always with me and taking care of me. I also read His Word, the Holy Bible, and It reminds me of His awesome Promises and that always makes me feel better! Then I ask myself, "Why should you be down when your Heavenly Father loves you and you are His child?" God bless.

I rarely get depressed, however i use to suffer from depression in my younger days.I would cry a lot, and i would listen to christian music and i would pray..I remember those days very well, and those days were very hard for me.I found that i had a chemical imbalance, and am now currently taking medication for it...I still get blue at times but i always know why and i come through it real quick..

I am depressed right now. I just keep busy...as busy as i can. This afternoon, I sewed and did laundry...went and spent time with my mom...gave her a bath....keeping busy is key. I just jumped on here and I'm exhausted so I will soon go to sleep to kill of the rest of the day and hopefully tomorrow will be better...it usually is.

Hello saurabh1234567. Thats an interesting question. Whenever I feel depressed, I too like praying and meditating. It helps me feel calm and relaxed. I also like listening to classical music. Shopping and being with friends also helps me cope with depression.

Unfortunately for me and my family, I just dwell on this issue. I have a serious need to learn to let it go. My mind never stops and I constantly worry about something. Even trivial things I waste time worrying about. Do you think some people are just made this way? I want to be like you and meditate. I've tried it but lasted less than 30 seconds before my mind started wandering. I kept trying to clear my mind then got frustrated and gave up. Maybe I have adult onset ADD :) Good for you finding a way to relieve your depression!
