last sunday i've watch this "korina sanchez" tv show, and of the feature story catches my attention and touches my heart too... i know that each of us has different ways of paying it forward... here's the story:May 1994, during Tokyo Bay Cruise, Pinky Tobiano a chemist, made new acquaintances including Dr. Jatin Shah, a specialist from Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York. She cherished her meeting with the famous doctor and for the past nine years has been sending Christmas cards to him. Year 2003, Pinky was rushing to the airport for a business trip when she slipped on the stairs of her house and hit her head on the steps. She went to the hospital where the technicians scanned her head and throat as well. Two suspicious lumps were diagnosed and they were cancerous. A consultation with Dr. Sammy Ang of the Cardinal Santos Memorial followed she was delighted to know that Dr. Ang trained under Dr. Jatin Shah. She was also told that his specialization was throat and larynx cancer. Then she took a chance of sending a fax to Dr. Shah together with their pictures taken during cruise and wrote. "You once told me to call you in case i should need help one day. She had hoped the good doctor would respond". The doctor remembered and apologized for not answering her Christmas cards. He agreed to fly to Manila to operate on her. He also expressed willingness to address the Phillipine College of Surgeons, as well. After her delicate operation at St. Luke's Hospital, the first thing the doctor told her was the cancer;s gone and he had taken it all out. When Pinky asked for the bill, Dr. Shah said, "You have long paid me in full for my services. The nine years which you sent me Christmas cards without fail are more than enough". Pinky now is doing well, she said that "The good Dr. Shah was a complete stranger who gave me back my life. Never take the people you meet for granted for they could save your life". Pinky established an organization for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, Pinky Cares Foundation. She believes that music soothes the mind, body, and heart. She produce an album called "H.O.P.E.(Healing of Pain and Enlightment)".
so do you like the story? when someone help you, how do you pay it?

A moving Tv show, like you say, never take strangers as dangerous people all the time, talk to them and find out who they are really, in my country, people are suspicious of making friends with strangers, yet those who are more assertive are known to have benefitted immensely from strangers they have turned into friends in need, I personally thought your post was very moving flomikren!

I always help others. No matter what race, religion or ethnic background they come from. I of course have to feel like they are at least TRYING to help themselves. I won't help someone who doesn't even try.
