Christmas Memories

Now that the holidays are over, I am always thankful on what a nice Christmas it was. Before Christmas I always stress if I am forgetting anything, then all the fun on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, then the planning starts for our NYE party and then our New Years Day football game with the family. So today is the day for looking back and realizing that again it all turned out just perfect.
I like to then reflect on Christmas past, remembering when I was kid and how exciting Christmas was for me. How hard it was falling asleep Christmas Eve, trying to listen for Santa, then finally falling asleep only to wake up what felt like seconds later to know it was Christmas morning and leaping out of bed to run and see if he had been there.
Does anyone else have a favorite memory they would like to share from their childhood Christmas. Any traditions that you now do because you loved them as a child? I always like hearing what others did or maybe still do today.
I guess I am just not ready to let Christmas go yet...the kid in me??? LOL

Nancy, we drive around on Christmas Eve to look at lights and decorations. We did this as a kid to help calm us down after visting with our grandparents. Bob and I did it before the kids came along and now we still do it.
But this year we noticed not as many people are decorating like when we were kids. I see two reasons for that:
1. Maryland's electrical rates went sky high due to deregulation and I guess people were worried that too many lights would increase their bills.
or
2. There are more families from other countries moving into the area that don't celebrate Christmas.
A neighbor noticed it and then asked me if I thought there were less decoration out, which I had to stop and think about but it is true. At least for our little part of Maryland.
I have to take the tree down today (Sunday) and I am dreading it. It seems like the room is empty once you take it down. We didn't get it up until late this year with everything that went on with our house so I really hate to take it down. But it is time.
