tying a shoe...

How do you tell a child how to tie a shoelace just by explaining it and not by showing?

my son is still wearing velcro for now...i like the velcro, i think its more practical... I am going to teach him how to do it eventually however, since it is one of those skills you need to learn. Explaining it without a demonstration would be confuzing to adults, let alone kids...so i don't really think it would be possible!

Yes I think it is quite a mind boggler!! I wonder if anyone ever tried to explain that without showing it.. THanks!

I don't think that's possible. I think you definitely need to SHOW the child how to tie the shoelace. It's not something theoratical or which you can explain, it needs practice.

I showed my kids. They learn better by example.
