I have alot of trouble getting enough rest. My husband rolls around alot in bed, and my dog snores, and I am a very light sleeper. I wear earplugs every night in order to even be able to fall asleep and I often take sleeping pills.....but rightnow I am down to my last one and need to see a doctor to get the perscription filled, and it can take forever to get an appointment, so I am afraid to take it and be completely out. Also when I do sleep I have ridiculous vivid nightmares almost every night. Do you have any similar sleep problems? Tell me about them. What do you use to help you sleep?

I too have trouble sleeping but thats because I have FMS. I find I sleep really good when i stay at my boyfriends house though. I think his bed helps because he has a really nice bed. Or it could be because when I am over there we stay up so late that by the time we go to bed we just crash.

Nykkee,
I have problems sleeping here and there usually it's because of stress and sometimes because my other half snores loud enough to cut down trees five miles away. What I usually do is when I want to got to bed I actually take a book and go upstairs and read and try and make myself sleepy before he gets up there to start cutting down the trees. Sometimes I pass out before him sometimes I don't it just depends on the situation.Other times when I'm stressed I have some tea and try and take a nice long relaxing bath. I hope that you get some sleep and that you recieve some great suggestions that work.

Since I quit drinking coffee I have slept like a baby every night and don't even get up once. I used to spend half the night up and down. Cut out all caffeine about four hours before you go to bed. Even Chocolate has caffiene in it.....maybe that would help some!

My problem isn't falling asleep. It's staying asleep. I'm good for the 1st 2 hours maybe then up by 1 or 2 usually. Back in bed 4 am or even 5.Fragmented sleep is the worst. But I'd be afraid to take any pills. My husband is a deep sleeper.Plus he occasionally snores. So he doesn't hear much. And sometimes our daughter sleepwalks. So I guess I'd rather be alert.I do some late night mylotting. And alot of tv watching. By the 3rd night of the week I usually get a good 5 hours. So exhaustion may be my tool for getting zzzz. Good luck, I know the feeling.

I have trouble falling asleep and am a light sleeper too. I wake up several times in the night. I read recently that the worst thing you can do is have lights on and tv so I am trying not to do that anymore.

I remember about two weeks ago I was in Big Bear California with my sister, bro in law and other people. We slept in a house cabin - damn I couldn't sleep in those beds they had. So damn stiff I kept turning and turning like I'm a flipped pancake on a pan. So I was like forget it I just grabbed my blanket and pillow and slept on the floor which was way much better. Those are usually the times I can't sleep. Or at times I can't sleep when I am thinking of someone like a loved on - mainly because I miss her and haven't heard from her for a while.

i dont sleep well either, in fact i sleep so poorly that i dont even sleep with my hubby anymore...i wake up all the time or cannot go to sleep...he hates me not sleeping with him, but if he wants me to work, i have to sleep, so he puts up with this arrangement.
i currently take sleeping pills that help tons (but i am still a very light sleeper) or you could go to the health food store and try melatonin...its a natural sleep aid...see if that helps...good luck!!

I don't have a sleeping problem. Perhaps you try to avoid drinking tea or coffee before you go to sleep. And usually drinking a cup of milk will be benefical for sleeping. Make sure the temperature is suitable. And relax yourself and don't try to think a lot. Just close your eyes and have a good sleep.

I used to have the same problem with sleeping when I had some big problems in my life. I couldn't sleep and when I finally fall a sleep I'd dream about these problems and I'd wake up all in sweat.I don't know what is causing your sleeping problems but I think you should try to figure out the reason.

Sometimes I have a horrible time trying to get to sleep and stay asleep. I'm a very light sleeper and it only takes someone walking by my bedroom to stir me (never mind the evening-morning traffic).
I find sometimes using a few drops of lavender oil or chamomile oil on a cotton ball in my pillow really helps me relax and doze off. (It seems to calm down my restless legs as well). I sometimes rub it on my face after washing before bed.
Making "honey milk" before bed also sometimes works wonders even if it can taste a little rich. (one cup hot milk, 2 teaspoons honey, a few drops of vanilla extract to taste)

I definitely don't have a hard time falling a sleep but staying asleep is very difficult for me. I fall asleep at about 10 and I wake up around 3 and can't go back to sleep until about 6 am which is an hour before I need to be up. It can't possibly be that my body only needs 5 hours of sleep does it?

I don't know. I went to my doctor to find out why I was needing like 12 hours of sleep when I was working, I had blood tests and everything and all they told me was that some people just have low energy levels and not everyone can work a 40 hour week. Apparently I'm one of those people that can't.

I actually have some trouble getting to sleep in fact some nights I don't sleep at all, for some reason most of these problems occur on a Monday where some times I get no sleep at all. but I guess this is just due to a thing which my body has been worked into with 12 hours or more of awake time and 12 hours of sleep or so.

About 3 months ago, I had difficulty sleeping. I was feeling very tired mentally, physically and emotionally, but no matter how tired I was, I could not get to sleep. =(
Now, I am feeling the reverse. I am feeling sleepy all the time. I could get to sleep in the bus, on my bed and during lectures and etc.
I tried to keep myself really busy and tired during the day so that I can be tired enough to get to sleep at night. Also, I try not to think too much before I sleep. An active mind always prevent one from sleeping.

I always have difficulty sleeping. I try to exercise a few hours before bedtime so my body will get really tired. If that doesn't work, I try to read a really really boring book.
