Lima Beans

I tried growing Lima beans last summer and they didn't turn out. They came up geat and bloomed and put on bushels of pods, but never put any beans in the pods, I ended up pulling them and putting in green beans and they did great. Can any one give me a sloution as to what went wrong? I want to try them again this summer as well as some butter beans. I live in zone 5 in west centeral Mo.
