soundtracks

Does anyone out there have soundtracks in their dreams besides me? I swear this is true. Every time I wake, whether during the night or in the morning, I have a song playing in my head. This morning it was one by Coldplay, which was great, but sometimes it's things like Everybodys Workin For the Weekend!! This has happened for as long as I can remember, which is a rather long time, indeed.
Any takers?

I don't usually have songs or music playing through my head when I first wake up. I don't know that I even dream anymore. But the rare times that I do realize that it is a continuation of a dream, it is usually music that i have listened to within the last couple of days. somehow my brain incorporates it into the dream or better yet, makes a dream around it. The most frequent one I remember is the opening track from "The Magnificent Seven". Seems I'm frozen in the past somewhere. Giddy up!

The Magnificent Seven!!!!!! Ha! That's really funny.
It's weird, but I ALWAYS wake with a song in my head (and heart? Isn't that a movie?). And it makes sense that our daily life would play a part in what enters into our dreams, including music. Of course you dream, silly, you just don't remember them. Everyone dreams. How odd it would be for us if we didn't. I really hate the nightmares, though, and I have them entirely too much - always have - passed down through my maternal side of the family, I'm afraid. I tend to get really vocal and quite active during them. Yikes!! I'm truly awful to sleep with. Just ask my hubby, poor thing, he's suffered some bruises and really lousy nights because of it. Ha, this just occurred to me - maybe some of the bruises he suffers are from me dancing to the songs playing through my dreams? That'd be kind of funny in a rather sadistic way, hmmm?

What a lovely thing to say! I think that it's a gift to wake with music in my head and heart and to have it play through my dreams. I wish that you could experience it too. Who knows? Maybe you will now. Or maybe you already do and simply don't remember it. Maybe this will bring it more to the forefront of your consciousness. I hope so. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this discussion with such an eloquent and graceful comment. I hope to hear more from you in the days to come.

It is a gift indeed. I just can't remember much of the dreams that I have at night, let alone with music playing in my head when I wake up. Anyhow, the pleasure is mine.

Hello, Nikoko, I love your name! I'm so happy to hear that you too hear music in your dreams. Isn't it a lovely thing? And yes, I do listen to Coldplay a lot. I find their music extremely compelling. I AM addicted to the music I hear, you're right. And luckily, as you say, not a health hazard.
Thank you so much for responding. I really enjoyed reading your post - it was like listening to you talk. I will take care, and I hope you will do the same. Bless your heart.
